Colour Up and Dinner Break

The last level saw the most noticeable change in fortunes for some of the middling stacks (from good to better, or from bad to worse) with a couple of empty chairs signifying the departure of, for example, Kevin Daly.

400/800 betting limits, with the stud at 100 ante, 100 bring in will be our next level.

Not Just A Pretty Face

If you've ever wondered if Mr Antonius is actually as good as everyone seems to think he is, then maybe this will help you come to a conclusion, the former model (we once worked the circuit together - cough) getting the better of 10 foot Phil Gordon in an eyebrow raising Omaha hand.

Gordon bet every street of a {6-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} board, but Patrik called every time. Gordon mucked instantly on the river, allowing Patrik to gleam as he showed a mere {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}.

Good looking AND clever, it's just not fair!

When Hunger Strikes

As we head into the dinner break, the question on everyone's lips is surely, "Who is at the front of that buffet queue, snoopy, we need to know?" Well, I have the inside scoop and can reveal that Barny Boatman was the player with the hungriest stomach with Doyle Brunson not too far behind.

Watch this space for more updates on the increasingly riveting buffet situation.

Buffet Banter

Amid the buffet queue, my little Beagle ears were standing at attention and intently listening for any surrounding comments:

Mark Vos: "I'm a bit bored, no one seems to be getting knocked out."

Barny Boatman: "Kirk Morrison seems to be really tired. He was calling my bets in Razz with high cards, which was odd. I had actually picked up a set of threes, but he wasn't to know that with what I was showing."

Catman: "I was around average for a while but am now down to less than my starting stack after being duped in a three-way pot."

Kevin Daly: "The structure's more deadly than you might think. One hand with reraises and you've dropped 2.5K."

I also had my wits about me in the urinals, but Mel Judah and Pascal Perrault were doing their business in silence. Perhaps they detected a spy in their midst...

The Al Gore of Poker

Gary "The Choirboy" Jones may not be a familiar name with our American readers, but over here in England he is a popular figure, both as a poker player and as a commentator.

Gary has always been a chatty, amicable personality among the poker scene, but recently he has startled a few onlookers with his bright green hair. When I inquired about his new Riddler-esque hairdo, the reply was a surprising one:

"I'm actually trying to create a bit of awareness about climate changes and global warming," commented Gary, "so any online commentary you can give me on the topic would be most welcomed."

Your wish is my command Gary, and although you look admittedly ridiculous at this point in time, I commend your efforts in using poker as a base of raising social awareness, much like the Ante Up For Africa event that we witnessed last night.

Poker-wise, Gary is actually playing in today's HORSE event, running well with 16,000. Unfortunately, I'm unable to get my mitts on a picture of Gary and his sparkling barnet, but watch this space.
