Pat Scanlon Eliminates Graeme Newman

There was less than 10k of Newman's stack to put in on a flop of {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, but in it went with the {Q-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. It was ahead of caller Pat Scanlon's {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, however. The turn and river brought running clubs for the backdoor flush, and Newman headed out as they broke the first table.

Lots of Bustouts already

Brandon Adams
Brandon Adams
Brandon Adams is one of many players to bust in a hectic first ten minutes.

He shoves all in and is called by Manuel Palenca.
Adams: {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Palenca: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

A king on the flop and no more help for Adams.

Elsewhere Emilios Emmanuel has just flopped quad nines and took out his Betfair buddy Markku Aho, and Jeffery Lissandro has just bust Phillip Peters.

The Course of Play for the rest of the week......

A word from Tournament Director Jack Effel.

Players will play a minimum of 4 levels today and tomorrow, and will return on Friday for Day 3. Day 3 will play down until the money is reached (36 players), at which time play will be suspended until the start of play for Day 4 on Saturday. Day 4 will play down until the final table is reached (could be a looooong day) and the nine players who survive on Saturday will return on Sunday for the Final Table.

Given the field size, and the fact that Day 2 has been split over two days, it is likely that 4 levels will be the maximum played today, as the tournament staff cannot risk making it near the money given the field is split.

Seidel Doubles Seidensticker

A threeway flop between blinds Tim Seidensticker, Eric Seidel and Konstantinos Panikidis brought the {6-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and no interest professed by any player. Triple check, and then the turn came the {A-Clubs}. Now Seidensticker stuck in half of his stack (try saying that ten times fast), 10k. Seidel thought for a while and then put him all-in (the third player getting out of the way). Seidensticker was only too happy to shove the rest in with his flop set of Kings ({K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}) and Seidel, looking for an Ace with his {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, didn't find one.

Fossilman not a Phoneman

Chairman of the Anti Phone Commitee
Chairman of the Anti Phone Commitee
Greg Raymer is going into a monologue about using your phones at the table. He has already prewarned everyone that he doesn't want to declare their cards dead if he catches them on their cells during a hand. He also believes maybe players shouldn't use ipods at the table.

Then Devilfish came to the table to chat to Gary Jones, Jones was in a hand and completely ignored him.

Lamsa Extends His Lead

I vill rule das world!
I vill rule das world!
Janne Lamsa, who was last sighted by my Beagle eyes at the Grand Prix de Paris, has extended his chip lead by eliminating table neighbour and fellow bald header, Sami Pulliainen.

All-in pre-flop, initial raiser Lamsa ({K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}) was relieved to see Pullianinen turn over {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} for the coin flip, and although the flop and turn brought a harmless {6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{A-Clubs}, the {Q-Hearts} river wasn't as forgiving and Pullianen was a gonna.

The Egg Man Eliminated

Thomas "The Egg Man" Wahlroos wandered up to the bar and admited, "I'm busto! I got all my money in pre-flop drawing dead!"

Wahlroos shoved with {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}. Bruno Fitoussi called with {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. Two other players folded J-10 and J-5. Fitoussi won the pot and The Egg Man has been cracked.

Coo coo ca choo.
