The calm before the storm......

We are currently setting up inside the Empire Casino poker room. It is eerily quiet in here, and feels like the calm before the storm. There is an English soccer game on the plasma screen TV's. None of the players are here just yet, and the film crew is just starting to roll in. We are currently just over half an hour from the start of play.

The course of play for today.....

There are 32 players set to return for the start of play today. Play will commence inside the "Face to Face" poker room within the Empire Casino, with one table upstairs in the televised film set. Play will continue until there are 27 players remaining, at which stage players will redraw for seats, and will be relocated to the tables on the mezzanine level.

Patrick Jouven Eliminated by Theo Jorgensen in 32nd Place (£27,150)

Patrick Jouven-- 32nd Place
Patrick Jouven-- 32nd Place
Patrick Jouven moved all in over the top of Theo Jorgensen's pre-flop raise and Jorgensen made the call. Jouven turned over {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} and was ahead of Jorgensen's {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. That all changed on the flop when it came down {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{5-Spades}, making Jorgensen two pair. The turn was the {9-Clubs}, the river was the {7-Diamonds}, and Jouven was eliminated.

James Keys Eliminates Marcello Marigliano in 31st (£27,150)

Mama mia, I am outio!
Mama mia, I am outio!
Heavily supported Brit James Keys has just seen off plucky Italian, Marcello Marigliano, the happy chappy pushing under the gun with {K-Hearts}{6-Hearts} but being looked up by Keys' {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}.

The {2-Clubs}{J-Spades}{4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades} board bringing no surprises, and leaving us with 30.

It's truly bizarre today, the players are dropping like flemmings {a cross breed of flies and lemmings} after playing the last 90 minutes of last night without losing anyone. Why they would want to spend an extra night in the hotel just to get busy this morning, I'll never know. As Annie Duke amusingly said, "What were we all dreaming about last night?"

I almost answered 'Annie Duke' but I don't think my girlfriend would have been too pleased.

Over at the featured TV table, Gus Hansen opened up for a 18,000 raise. Patrik Antonius moved all in from the button for 178,000. Magnus Persson moved all in from the big blind for 238,000. Hansen went into the tank.

"If I call this could be a big hand," he said.

He thought for another two minutes before he folded.

Antonius:{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}
Persson: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

The flop was {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Persson took the lead.

"I can't win a race," said a dejected Antonius.

The turn was the {2-Hearts} and the river was the {8-Clubs}. Persson won the pot as Patrik Antonius headed to the rail in 29th place. He won £27,150.

Magnus Persson increased his stack to over 400,000.
