2008 World Series of Poker Europe
Event 2 - £2,500 H.O.R.S.E.
Day: 3
Donev Makes a Boat
Jeff Lisandro raised it up to 10,000 from middle position, Ivo Donev bumped it up to 15,000 one seat along, and Lisandro made the call.
Both players checked the flop only for Donev to lead out for 10,000 on the turn.
On the river, Lisandro checked, Donev bet 10,000 and Lisandro folded. Donev showed for the rivered boat.
The Mystery of the Yellow Discs
So there you go, who needs the wonders of modern technology when you have yellow discs.
Ship It to the Professor
Howard Lederer opened for a preflop raise and Sherkhan Farnood called on the button. The flop was . Lederer bet out and Farnood called. The turn came the and Lederer bet again, but was met with a raise from Farnood. Lederer screwed his face up in a frown and made the call. The river was the and Lederer check-called Farnood's bet.
Farnood showed for kings and fives, but Lederer had him beat with for kings and queens. With no low on the board, Lederer scooped the pot, leaving Farnood short-stacked.
Farnood Survives His First All In
Sherkhan Farnood raised from the cutoff, Spencer Lawrence three-bet from the small blind, Jeffrey Lisandro made it four bets from the big blind, Farnood put his remaining 22,000 into the pot and both Lawrence and Lisandro called an additional 2,000 apiece. Farnood was all in for the main pot, with action proceeding on the side between Lawrence and Lisandro.
The flop was and Lawrence check-called a bet from Lisandro. The turn was the and Lawrence check-called again. The river fell the . A third check-call from Lawrence.
On their backs...
Farnood
Lawrence
Lisandro
Farnood's wheel won him the main pot while Lawrence and Lisandro split the side.
Choppety Chop Chop
As you'd expect from a H.O.R.S.E event, we're seeing more chops than my local butcher's with many pots being split two ways. On the last hand, however, Howard Lederer and Mark Gregorich at least had the added bonus of sharing Sherkhan Farnood's chips as the three players tangled in an Omaha 8 hand.
With the board reading , Lederer check-raised Farnood's bet of 5,000 to 10,000. Both Gregorich and Farnood called.
After all three players had checked the turn, Lederer led out for 10,000 on the river, Gregorich called and Farnood folded, albeit hesitantly.
On their backs, and Lederer took the high with for a straight, whilst Gregorich snapped up the other half of the pot with with a low to the seven.
Lawrence in Trouble
Spencer Lawrence is struggling after being bashed down to 55,000 by Sherkhan Farnood. I joined the action with three players remaining and an board waiting patiently on the felt.
With Farnood leading out for 10,000, Phil Ivey side-stepped out of the way, and Lawrence made the call.
A river triggered another bet of 10,000, and a frustrated shake of the head from Lawrence who sensed he was beat. After twitching in his seat like a frog in a blender (he is highly animated in his mannerisms), Lawrence made the call.
Sadly for the UK player, Farnood's was good enough to scoop the pot.
Another Blow to Lawrence
Lawrence (X) (X)
Duvall (X) (X)
Jeff Duvall completed on third street and Spencer Lawrence made the call. On fourth Lawrence led out with the high board, Duvall raised and Lawrence called. Duvall paired eights on fifth and bet out, inducing a fold from Lawrence, who is left on only 20,500 chips.
Small Pot for Lisandro
Phil Ivey completed with the showing, Lisandro made the call with the . Phil bet a on 4th street, Lisandro called with the . Lisandro then made a pair with the , and Ivey check-folded his .
Ivey now on 90,000.
