Max Pescatori Eliminated in 5th Place (£51,562)

Max Pescatori - 5th Place
Max Pescatori - 5th Place
With the board reading {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {9-Spades} {K-Spades} {2-Hearts} on the river, Max Pescatori bet 50,000, and Erik Friberg raised to 200,000. Pescatori made the call, turning up {K-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}-X-X for a turned set of kings, but that same card had made Friberg the nut straight with {Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {6-Clubs}. Pescatori was left with only 19,000 after the hand.

On the next deal Pescatori limped in and was joined by Sorel Mizzi in the small blind and Theo Jorgensen in the big. The flop was {K-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {9-Diamonds}. The action was checked to Pescatori, who moved all in for his remaining 7,000 in chips. Both Mizzi and Jorgensen called, and they checked down the {10-Diamonds} on the turn and the {A-Spades} on the river.

Jorgensen showed {10-Spades} {6-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {3-Clubs} for a pair of tens. Pescatori could only manage a pair of nines and Mizzi mucked his hand. Jorgensen dragged the pot and Pescatori was eliminated, his fifth-place finish earning him £51,562.

As he greeted his friend John Phan, who was swilling champagne on the rail, Pescatori quipped, "As soon as they give me the (money), I'll bet it all on red!"
