Tournament Tidbits

There are currently 62 players remaining, which puts the average chip stack at 19,100.

Notable recent eliminations include Robert Williamson III, John O'Shea and Jeff Madsen.

A massive crowd has developed around the final table of Event 1, where J.P. Kelly and Fabien Dunlop are currently heads-up for the bracelet.

Seed Doubles Through

(Hold'em)

Former WSOP Main Event Champ Huck Seed has doubled through, finding the American Airlines at just the right time. "I need a two," confessed Peter Gould when Seed pushed in the face of Gould's 8,000 bet on a {6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{8-Spades}{J-Spades} board. "You need a two?" repeated Seed surprised.

Indeed, he wasn't lying, and with {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, Gould was left with two outs, neither of which arrived on the {Q-Clubs} river. "I thought you had A-K," concluded the Brit.

Seed now on 28,000, whilst Gould sinks to six.

Kelopuro Surges Before the Break

Sami 'LarsLuzak' Kelopuro made a bold call for all (or most) of his chips after an opponent put him to the test with a massive river bet with the board showing {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades}{J-Diamonds}.

After some serious deliberation, Kelopuro made the call, tabling {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for nothing but a pair of queens. His opponent wrapped the table, signifying Kelopuro's hand was good, as he tabled {5-Spades}{9-Hearts} for a pair of fives.

Kelopuro climbed to just under 40,000 in chips with the win.

Back to Work

Back at the felt, and gsqwared has magically morphed into me for the rest of the evening's play. It's good to be here.

We're scheduled to play another four levels tonight, but we may well see an early finish if the field does a good job of self-decimation in the next couple of hours. Fingers crossed.

Good Win for Goodwin

(Hold'em)

A nice little pot for Marc Goodwin spelled the end of his short-stacked opponent's tournament life.

Goodwin raised under the gun in hold'em and the gentleman on the button called all in.

Goodwin: {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}
Short stack: {A-Clubs} {2-Clubs}

"I'm dominated," said Mr. Short Stack, perceptively.

The board ran out a bunch of blanks, in the parlance, and Goodwin's up to 33,000.

Aces Bust Aces

(Omaha)

We have been treated to a star-studded post-dinner feature table that includes the likes of Ian Frazer, Annette Obrestad, and Sami Kelopuro and already we've witnessed fireworks. Within just a few hands, there was a raise to 1,200 from mid-position, a reraise to 4,200 from Sherkhan Farnood, followed by yet another raise to 14,200 from Hoyt Corkins, all seated consecutively. Atfer the initial raiser stepped out of the way - with what I am led to believe was double suited picture cards - Farnood announced all-in and Corkins called.

Corkins = {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Farnood = {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{K-Spades}

Two monstrous hands, but it was the cheeky 8-6 which saved this from being a chopped affair, Corkins making two pair on a {4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{J-Diamonds} board to scoop up a welcome pot.

Farnood, meanwhile, was left with an eggshell of rice, and departed moments later.
