We'll see this hair on Day 2
We'll see this hair on Day 2

Faraz Jaka has become to the first winner advancing to the second round of the event. He first eliminated Oliver Speidel and was faced with David Peters heads up.

On the final hand of the heads-up match, Peters had about 18,000 and reraised all in after Jaka opened on the button. Jaka called with the {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}. Peters held {5-}{5-}. The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, and Jaka made a diamond flush to win the hand and his table.

Jaka will be back tomorrow at 2:00 PM. He's already locked up €5,428 for winning his first-round match.

Monnette & Guichard Advance

Manig Loeser found himself all in holding {9-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and at risk against Paul Guichard, who held the superior {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}. The {4-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} flop left Loeser looking for running cards, but when the {A-Clubs} on the turn left him drawing dead, he shook hands with his opponent and exited the tournament floor. The {J-Clubs} was put out on the river for good measure, and Guichard punched his ticket to Day 2.

Meanwhile, John Monnette won his table and has advanced to Day 2 with a stack of 63,600.

Kovalchuk Makes Little Work of Tino to Win His Table

A short-stacked Tino Lechich managed to double through Oleksii Kovalchuk holding {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs} against the latter's {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} on a {10-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{9-Spades} board, but it would prove too little too late as Lechich fell a short time later.

It happened when Lechich held {K-Spades}{10-Clubs} and was dominated by the {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} of Kovalchuk. There would be no come-from-behind victory for Lechich this time as the board ran out {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{8-Spades}.

O'Brien and Newey Trading Blows

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

From the button, Dan O'Brien raised to 800. Paul Newey called from the big blind and, the flop came down {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Newey checked, O'Brien bet 900, and Newey called.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds}, and both players checked. The river then completed the board with the {10-Clubs}. Newey fired 2,200, and O'Brien made the call.

Newey showed the {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}, but that was no good against O'Brien's {10-Spades}{9-Clubs} for two pair.

A couple hands later, O'Brien raised the button to 800, and Newey called from the big blind to see a flop of {J-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}. Newey check, O'Brien fired 1,100, and Newey made the call.

On the {5-Hearts} turn, both players checked. On the {9-Hearts} river, Newey fired 2,300. O'Brien folded, and Newey won the pot.
