Welcome to Event #6: €25,500 Short Deck High Roller No-Limit Hold'em

The first ever €25,500 Short Deck High Roller No-Limit Hold'em at the World Series of Poker Europe gets underway at 4 p.m. local time. There is a massive €2,500,000 guarantee in the prize pool. This two-day event is a new addition to the WSOP Europe schedule for 2019, with the format growing in popularity amongst poker fans over the last year.

Just like in regular Hold'em, the object of short deck Hold'em is to make a better five-card poker hand using any combination of holes cards and community cards than your opponents to win the pot. However, the deck consists of 36 cards instead of 52 as every card deuce through five is removed. An Ace still plays as the highest and lowest card in the rank.

One important difference with regular Hold'em games is that in Short Deck games, flushes beat full houses. This is the hand rankings the WSOPE will use:

Hand Rankings
Royal Flush
Straight Flush
Four of a Kind
Flush
Full House
Straight
Three of a Kind
Two Pair
One Pair
High Card

Players will start with 500,000 in chips and will be allowed a free add-on for another 500,000 at any point until the end of registration. There will also be unlimited re-entry during the registration period, with late registration closing after twelve levels, at approximately 1:00 a.m. Levels will be of 40 minutes each and Day 1 will play through 14 levels with a 15-minute break every three levels.

The tournament will play six-handed, with each player putting in a single ante, and the player on the button putting in a double ante.
