Hellmuth Loses a Big Chunk

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth raised it up in middle position and was called by Siarhei Chudapal in the big blind. The flop fell {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{8-Clubs} and Chudapal check-called a bet of 7,000 from Hellmuth.

The turn brought the {a-Hearts} and Chudapal checked again. Hellmuth announced a bet of 22,000 and Chudapal check-raised to 45,000. Hellmuth instantly called and the {2-Spades} completed the board. Chudapal shoved all in, putting Hellmuth to the test for his remaining 40,000 chips. Hellmuth dumped his cards to the muck and Chudapal dragged in the pot.

Schulze Doubles Through Sinclair

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Felix Schulze

Last year WSOP Europe Main Event champion Jack Sinclair has got off to a rocky start on Day 2 and it's all thanks to Felix Schulze. On a board reading {k-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Hearts} with around 65,000 chips already in the middle, Schulze and Sinclair got the rest of their stacks in the middle after a couple of raises.

Sinclair opened {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for a set of eights while Schulze held {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}. The river brought the {9-Clubs} and Schulze made a straight to double up through Schulze. The all-in amount was for 88,400 and Sinclair was forced to slide over the majority of his stack.

Day 2 of the 2019 World Series of Poker Europe €10,350 Main Event is about to start at 12 p.m. local time, with the 113 survivors from Day 1a and the 166 from Day 1b all combined in the same field. The total number of entries is 446 so far, out of which the 279 are still in the field. With €5,000,000 guaranteed in the prize pool this means that the field didn't reach it yet, but it is expected to be accomplished during Day 2 with registrations open until Level 12 and only 54 more entries required to surpass the guaranteed.

Two familiar names topped the two starting flights in the chipcounts, Alex Foxen (537,200) after Day 1a and Kahle Burns (497,200) after Day 1b, with those two occupying the first two spots of the total counts, too. A lot of other well-known names are still in the field, such as Shaun Deeb (345,300), Anatoly Filatov (270,000), Jeff Madsen (262,600), Joao Vieira (240,000), Julien Martini (220,000), Daniel Negreanu (167,600), and many more.

The schedule for today is to play six levels with a 15-minute break after each level and a 60-minute break after Level 11. The late registration and reentry period will close after the completion of Level 12, at approximately 22:20 on Day 2.
