Online Poker Weekend: 'stoledog', '007Paghman' Triumphant

Online Poker Weekend: 'stoledog', '007Paghman' Triumphant 0001

More big turnouts marked the first weekend of 2009 as both PokerStars and Full Tilt again topped their announced guarantees in the biggest Sunday online poker events. In a contrast to recent weeks, however, relative unknowns dominated the final tables. Here's how the biggest events, the PokerStars Sunday Million and the Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee, played out:

PokerStars Sunday Million

The PokerStars Sunday Million attracted 8,504 entrants for a total prize pool of $1,700,800. Notable finishers falling short of the final table included backmanlivs in 24th place ($3,401.60), Mike "Sowerss" Sowers in 65th ($2,551.20) and Matt "All_in_at420" Stout in 73rd place ($2,381.12). The chip counts to start the final table were the following:

stoledog - 21,146,264

jayvedo - 18,089,056

bukithepro - 13,340,694

USA_20080920 - 9,613,727

aceskay - 7,758,953

The Midget - 4,759,579

simon1471 - 4,366,848

Prom Queens - 3,671,199

Fold Ü Phish - 2,293,680

The first to depart the final table was Fold Ü Phish at the 150,000/300,000/30,000 level. On the button, Fold Ü Phish shoved for 2,263,680 with {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and was called by jayvedo in the big blind with {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. The board ran out {k-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Fold Ü Phish was out in ninth place for $11,905.60. Aceskay busted a few hands later. From the cutoff, aceskay shipped it in for 1,967,754 with {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and jayvedo again called in the big blind, this time while holding {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. An ace on the turn sealed the deal and aceskay was out in eighth for $19,559.20. Just before the end of the level, Prom Queens opened to 800,000 under the gun and, next to act, The Midget reraised all in for 4,069,589 with {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}. Prom Queens called and showed, what else, {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. The board came {2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and The Midget was sent off in seventh place for $29,764.

Simon1471 was the lone casualty at 200,000/400,000/40,000. Down to 1,947,697, simon1471's tournament life was at stake with {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} against bukithepro's {q-Clubs}{7-Spades}. The board came {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} to pair bukithepro's seven as simon1471 finished sixth for $42,520. At 250,000/500,000/50,000, stoledog opened to 1,299,999 on the button and bukithepro called from the small blind, leading to a {3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{10-Spades} flop. Bukithepro led out with a bet of 2,650,000 and stoledog raised all in with the bigger stack. After a little thought, bukithepro called all in with {k-Spades}{q-Spades} and was up against stoledog's {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}. The turn and river came {9-Diamonds} and {a-Diamonds}, no help to bukithepro who finished in fifth place for $59,528. Jayvedo departed next. On the button, jayvedo raised to 2,000,000 and Prom Queens pushed it up to 4,500,000 in the big blind. Jayvedo then shoved for 19,658,513 with {a-Spades}{q-Spades}, but saw Prom Queens snap-call and show {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}. The board ran out {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and jayvedo was out the next hand in fourth place for $76,536.

The final three players then struck a deal, guaranteeing each the following paydays:

stoledog - $150,793.55

Prom Queens - $150,000

USA_20080920 - $108,182.93

Prom Queens departed next. With blinds and antes at 300,000/600,000/60,000, Prom Queens opened to 1,500,000 on the button and stoledog reraised to 4,999,999 from the small blind. Prom Queens then went all in for 15,909,720 and stoledog quickly called with {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}, leading Prom Queens' {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. The board rolled out {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Prom Queens was out of the dance in third place for $150,000. At the start of heads-up play, the chip counts were as follows:

USA_20080920 - 47,302,908

stoledog - 37,737,092

The match lasted nearly an entire level before stoledog emerged victorious at 400,000/800,000/80,000. Stoledog opened to 2,400,000 and USA_20080920 min raised to 4,000,000, which stoledog called. The flop came {6-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} and USA_20080920 fired out 5,000,000. Stoledog then raised enough to set USA_20080920 all in, who called with {a-Spades}{3-Spades} and led stoledog's {10-Spades}{9-Spades}. The {j-Spades} turn kept USA_20080920 in the lead, but the {10-Hearts} fell on the river and stoledog took in the pot with two pair. USA_20080920 finished as the runner-up, earning $108,182.93, while the winner of the PokerStars Sunday Million was stoledog for $180,793.55.

Final Results:

1. stoledog - $180,793.55

2. USA_20080920 - $108,182.93

3. Prom Queens - $150,000

4. jayvedo - $76,536

The Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee drew a field of 3,908, creating a total prize pool of $781,600. Among the best finishers outside the final were Kory "s00tedj0kers89" Kilpatrick in 12th place ($7,503.36), Patrick "PMJackson21" Jackson in 16th ($3,908), Jon Turner in 44th ($1,836.76), Chip Jett in 54th ($1,445.46), TollBoothBandit in 69th ($1,172.40), and Travis "TravestyFund" Rice in 80th ($1,172.40). The chip counts to start the final table were the following:

WPChaser - 2,058,951

Brian "chickensalad" Burney - 2,032,015

007Paghman - 1,866,935

BeNzitO85 - 1,288,260

Mike "GoLeafsGoEh" Leah - 1,121,290

knickadam55 - 1,102,590

coach257 -1,016,364

king silas - 898,486

blackbeanbun - 339,109

Eliminated first at the 25,000/50,000/6,000 level was Mike "GoLeafsGoEh" Leah. 007Paghman raised to 130,000 from middle position and Leah raised all in from the big blind for 571,290 with {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. Unfortunately for Leah, 007Paghman called and tabled {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}. A third king fell on the turn and Mike "GoLeafsGoEh" Leah was sent to the rail in ninth place for $10,473.44. At 30,000/60,000/7,500, knickadam55 hit the rail as well after running {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} into WPChaser's {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}. The board rolled out {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{a-Clubs} and knickadam55 was eliminated in eighth place for $14,068.80. Blackbeanbun was the next to exit at that level. From middle position, blackbeanbun shoved for 156,218 with {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, but ran into king silas' {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} in the big blind. A king came on the flop and blackbeanbun finished seventh place for $17,976.80.

King silas was dethroned at 40,000/80,000/10,000. From middle position, king silas shoved for 583,759 with {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and found action from 007Paghman in the cutoff with {a-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. The board ran out {7-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{q-Spades}{a-Hearts} and king silas departed in sixth place for $23,995.12. At 50,000/100,000/10,000 BeNzitO85 was sent home. After opening to 400,000 under the gun, BeNzitO85 saw WPChaser raise to 1,300,000 on the button. BeNzitO85 called all in with {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, but trailed WPChaser's {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}. The board came {q-Hearts}{j-Spades}{6-Hearts}{q-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and BeNzitO85 was out, earning $32,358.24 for fifth place. Brian "chickensalad" Burney was felted as well during that level of play. Down to 818,515, he shoved with {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs} in the cutoff, but was called by coach257 from the big blind, who showed {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}. No queen appeared and Burney's tournament came to end in fourth place for $43,144.32.

At 60,000/120,000/15,000, coach257 and 007Paghman squared off in a coin flip that had 007Paghman at risk with {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} against coach257's {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}. The board ran out {2-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{3-Hearts} as the 6,521,750 pot went to 007Paghman and put coach257 on the edge with just two big blinds left. Three hands later, coach257 was out of the game with $54,712 in third-place money.

007Paghman began heads-up play with a slight chip lead and went on to claim the victory. The final hand saw WPChaser all in with {k-Hearts}{5-Spades} against 007Paghman's {a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. The board rolled out {2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts}, leaving WPChaser unimproved and the runner-up for $83,631.20. The winner of the Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee was 007Paghman for $138,382.28.
