2017 PokerStars SCOOP Day 6: KornmeisterX Wins Second COOP Title

2017 SCOOP

Germany’s “KornmeisterX” won a no-limit Omaha Hi-lo event during the 2016 Turbo Championship Of Online Poker (TCOOP) and now has a Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) title after he took down SCOOP-19-H: $1,050 NLHE Progressive KO Thursday Thrill for a $139,196 score.

A field of 1,697 entrants obliterated the $1 million guaranteed as the prize pool weighed in at a cool $1,697,000. This huge sum of money was distributed among the top 216 finishers with a min-cash being worth $933, a final table appearance, $8,485, and the champion scooping $139,196.

As the tournament was a progressive knockout event - the value of each player's bounty increased as they eliminated an opponent - the prize money won only tells part of the story. In addition to the $139,196 first-place prize, awarded to KornmeisterX was a substantial bounty payment of some $51,521, taking the total money won to an impressive $190,717.

According to the PokerStars Blog, “Ti0373” went into the nine-handed final table as an overwhelming chip leader with a 6,163,727 stack with “despedespi33” in second place with 3,922,833 chips.

Ti0373 added the chips of Razvan “razvygg” Belea to his stack when he sent the Romanian to the rail in ninth place and then sent Finland’s “Strz” home in eighth place. The United Kingdom’s “MkMyWishFish” fell in seventh place, which is a remarkable achievement considering the British grinder reached the final table of this very event back in 2016, again at the hands of Ti0373.

KornmeisterX took over the role of executioner when his red kings held against the back queens of his fellow German “MG10tze” to leave only five players in the hunt for the title. Ti0373 sent Ryan “king10clubs” Madsen to the showers in fifth place when his pocket jacks held against ace-queen.

Man of the moment, Ti0373, claimed yet another scalp when he caught a runner-runner Broadway straight to beat the top pair of Latvia’s “ekziter” and heads-up was set when a short-stacked despedespi33 moved all in with jack-nine and lost to Kornmeister’s king-seven.

An intense one-on-one battle ensued and it eventually went the way of KornmeisterX thanks in part to a couple of failed bluffs on Ti0373’s part. The final hand saw Ti0373 commit his stack with ace-deuce and KornmeisterX call with jack-seven. When a seven landed on the flop and another appeared on the turn, KornmeisterX became a SCOOP champion.
