Mihu Busts Sapiano

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Pre-flop, Albert Sapiano made it 4,000 to go from under the gun. Cristian Mihu raised to 9,000 from the button and Sapiano called.

The two men saw a flop of {J-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Albert Sapiano moved all-in for the other 78,000 to his name.
Mihu had an easy call to make.

Albert Sapiano: {7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Cristian Mihu: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

Sapiano was out of his chair on the flop, and we're not talking standing and watching. He was up, out and clear of the cardroom as the turn of {8-Hearts} provided a sweat he wasn't even present for. The river {5-Diamonds} made sure no-one had to go and chase him down on his way out of the door.

Grafton Gets Purser

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Sam Grafton was folded to on the button and he moved all-in to pressure the small and big blinds. Andy Purser in the big blind, however, decided to call for his tournament life and to double up his stack of 41,800.

Sam Grafton: {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Andy Purser: {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

The board of {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{A-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} sent Purser home with very little hope and that brings us down to 42 players, just half a dozen from the money bubble. The first pay-out at 36th place is £1,600.

Maiolo's Kings Topple Hassabis' Aces

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Antonio Maiolo's standard min-raise was shoved on by George Hassabis for 100,000 and Maiolo called it off very quickly when it was folded round to him.

Antonio Maiolo: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}
George Hassabis: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}

The board of {K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} sent the unfortunate Hassabis home with his aces cracked in the window.

We are now on the money bubble!

Hulme Hits the Rail as Bubble Boy

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

Andrew Hulme and Michael Mizrachi hadn't just been battling all day at the feature table after being together on the outer table they have shared since Day 2 kicked off.

Pre-flop, Mizrachi opened to 10,000 from under the gun. He was called by Hulme on the button and one other player. On a flop of {8-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, Mizrachi made it 16,000 and only Hulme called. The turn was the {K-Diamonds} , and Mizrachi made it 45,000 after Hulme checked.

Hulme made the call, but on the {Q-Clubs} river, Mizrachi's move all-in put him into the tank. With action paused on the other side of the room, everyone inside the 888Live room seemed to hold their breath. Eventually, Hulme called with {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}....but was shown Mizrachi's {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and that was good enough to take it down.

"I got him," said Mizrachi as we spoke to him about the hand afterwards. "He was good. I didn't think he'd bubble. I have 530,000; now I can win."

Mizrachi and Hulme went to war at the felt for most of 24 hours, but one man has prevailed -Michael Mizrachi. He has every chance of taking down this 888Poker London Live Main Event.

Hayward Finds a Lady to Double Through Leo McClean

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Luke Hayward opened to 10,500 in the hijack position, and when Leo McClean made it 28,500, Hayward was all-in over the top. McClean snap-called.

Leo McClean: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}
Luke Hayward: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

The board was a dramatic one, with it falling {10-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} to double up Hayward and deny McClean a stack approaching 350,000. Instead, the former 3rd-placed EPT final table player has 110,00 and needs to climb. Hayward had 234,000 and a real shot now at a tournament he was short-stacked in for such a long time.

Lopez Leading It

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Jose Lopez ran very deep in the £100,000 guaranteed Opening Event here at the 888Poker London Live Festival. That tournament exceeded its prize-pool and so too has this Main Event, with a £228,096 kitty meaning everyone is desperate to win.

With nine levels due to be played today, the current leader is Lopez, with 645,000. There are some very big stacks in the room, however. We'll have a full chip count for you at the break, but Andrea Volpi and Cristian Mihu are looking very strong too.

The Sweat Always Ends

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

James Phillips was down to just three big blinds on the bubble and managed to survive to cash for £1,600 thanks to the heroic battle between Andrew Hulme and Michael Mizrachi which ended in Hulme's bust-out.

Phillips may have survived to the money (no mean feat after qualifying online) but he couldn't last much longer. His all-in with pocket jacks was called by two players, who checked down on a board of {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{A-Hearts}{4-Spades}{K-Spades} . Unfortunately for Phillips, both his opponents held a queen and in poker terms, he was kicked to death.

"Poker always has a sting in it's tail, doesn't it?" Phillips remarked after the hand.
