Salamone Takes a Rough Beat; Sowa Busts With Aces

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Gereon Sowa
Gereon Sowa

In a three-way all in, Gereon Sowa ended up all in and had the best of it against two bigger stacks from Italy in Andrea Salamone and Patrick Sanfilippo.

Gereon Sowa: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Patrick Sanfilippo: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Andrea Salamone: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}

The {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop all but sealed the fate of Sowa, while Salamone was on the verge of becoming the new chip leader. However, the {2-Diamonds} turn and {q-Diamonds} river run out gave Sanfilippo an unlikely nut flush and he knocked out Sowa and doubled through Salamone for more than 120,000.

Gregori Wins a Big Pot Off Kooij

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Oriol Gregori
Oriol Gregori

On a flop of {a-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs}, Oriol Gregori bet 17,500 and Teunis Kooij called on the button. The {7-Diamonds} turn was checked and Gregori then bet the {q-Diamonds} river for 55,000. Kooij used one time bank and called for more than half of his remaining stack to get shown the {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for top two as the winning hand.

Ferran Corominas doubled with kings versus aces while Jose Jesus Iban, Ricardo Graells and Daniel Rueda Merino all walked out of the tournament area.

"I lost jacks versus aces and then {a-Spades}{9-Spades} against pocket fours, four on the flop," Rueda explained.

Robbiano Takes a Rough Beat; Barkay Gets Lucky

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Benjamin Barkay
Benjamin Barkay

At almost the same time on different tables, Pietro Robbiano and Benjamin Barkay ended up all in and at risk. The former was left stunned when his aces were called by Silviu Baltateanu, who had {5-}{4-} and hit a four on the flop.

Another four on the turn gave Baltateanu trips and he then said "I thought you have ace-king" in table chat while he dragged in the big pot.

Barkay was all in with {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} against the {a-Clubs}{k-Spades} of Day 1b chip leader Maksims Gorbacs, who had taken chips off the player from Israel previously. This time, the board came {q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{7-Spades} and Barkay voided the elimination in fortunate fashion.

Caminita Busts van den Broek

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Demetrio Caminita
Demetrio Caminita

Alexandre Mitjavila Moix and Demetrio Caminita hold more than one million in chips combined and appear to be the current chip leaders. Caminita just sent Matthijs van den Broek to the rail in a battle button versus cutoff. It was van den Broek that opened and he picked up a call to see a {10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop.

Van den Broek check-raised and then jammed the {3-Spades} turn to see Caminita snap-call.

Matthijs van den Broek: {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Demetrio Caminita: {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

The {5-Spades} river was the cherry on top, giving Caminita quads to deal the final blow in style.

Big Double for Chen

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Zhong Chen
Zhong Chen

In a three-bet pot between Zhong Chen and Michail Tastanis, a big pot of more than 150,000 emerged to the {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} turn and that's when Chen bet and called the shove of Tastanis for his last 161,000.

Zhong Chen: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Michail Tastanis: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The {9-Hearts} river was a blank and Tastanis was sent below the average stack.

Another player on the rise is UK's Kully Sidhu, who is also rapidly approaching half a million in chips as well.

Lovgren Sends Cortes to the Rail

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Sofia Lovgren
Sofia Lovgren

Sofia Lovgren started Day 2 as one of the shorter stacks on just 18 big blinds and has taken apart the feature table thus far, even taking over the role of the chip lead. The action has now caught up to her clash with Jesus Cortes in the previous level, and Lovgren was in no mood of raise-folding twice in a row against the Spaniard.

First Cortes got through with it holding ace-queen, but then he three-bet jammed for 101,000 with {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} in the hijack and Lovgren this time called with {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. The board came {8-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and Cortes was eliminated.

Three-Way All In Vaults Salamon Near Half A Million

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Laszlo-Istvan Salamon
Laszlo-Istvan Salamon

Soon after losing almost half of his stack, Giuseppe Carbone ended up all in for around 90,000 on the {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} turn and saw Laszlo-Istvan Salamon jam over the top, Tom-Aksel Bedell called.

Giuseppe Carbone: {k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Laszlo-Istvan Salamon: {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Tom-Aksel Bedell: {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}

Salamon only needed to fear an ace for a chop, but instead, the {3-Spades} river was a blank. Carbone hit the rail and Salamon doubled through Bedell for 167,000.
