Maunders Triples, Then Busts

Level 10 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Four players went to the JQ9 flop where Dan Maunders led out with a bet for his last 6,100 in the small blind. The big blind called, as did an opponent on the button.

Both players then checked down the 7 turn and 4 river and Maunders showed Q5 for top pair that was enough to win the pot and triple up.

The next hand, Callum Gordon raised to 2,500 in middle position before Maunders shoved again, this time making it 26,000 on the button. Gordon snap-called.

Dan Maunders: JJ
Callum Gordon: AK

Gordon hit his king on the K59 flop, then improved to the nut flush as the board ran out 65 to send Maunders to the rail.

Khatri Gets Hero-Called in Massive Pot

Level 9 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Bhavin Khatri
Bhavin Khatri

A pile of chips amounting to more than 50,000 was already in the middle as Bhavin Khatri and an opponent went to the river on a completed board of 93274.

Khatri then moved all in from early position, sending his opponent deep into the tank. He eventually called for his last 60,000.

"You win," Khatri said, showing A4 for a pair of fours on the river. His opponent let out a deep groan and shot up from his seat as he showed A3 for a pair of threes.

"The only hand I'm worried about," the defeated opponent said before heading off to the rail.

"I meant to check on that river but I'm trying to get 9x to fold," Khatri explained to his tablemates.

"Value bluff. Best bluff ever," Elliott Panyi said.

"That's why you always show your cards at the end," Khatri added as he moved into contention for the tournament chip lead.

Barnes Loses an All In, Wins Another

Level 7 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Stephen Barnes
Stephen Barnes

Stephen Barnes and Constantin Erhan were heads-up on a flop of 7810 when Erhan got his last 16,000 in the middle from the hijack. Barnes had him at risk from early position.

Constantin Erhan: A8
Stephen Barnes: Q10

Barnes was ahead with top pair, but Erhan spiked the A on the turn to make two pair. The river came the 8 and Erhan improved to a full house to double up.

Barnes got those chips back a few hands later. A player in early position bet 2,500 on a flop of 3J3 and Khaqaan Raja called in the small blind, as did Barnes in the big blind.

The turn came the K and the early-position player bet another 5,900. Raja then moved all in for 15,100 and Barnes called, while their other opponent folded.

Raja had KJ for two pair, but Barnes showed 43 for trip threes. The river was the 10 and Barnes sent Raja to the rail.

Barnes Catches a Bluff to Bust One

Level 5 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Three players went to the flop of 329 where the button bet 1,800. Stephen Barnes called in early position, as did another opponent in the hijack.

The turn came the 4 and action checked to the hijack, who moved all in for 8,500. The button folded, but Barnes snap-called and showed 22 for a set.

His opponent could only show QJ for queen-high and was already drawing dead before the Q river sealed his elimination.

"Tough sweat," tablemate Abdullah Alshanti joked with Barnes after the hand.

Eliot Catterson: AQ

"Oh, you're not ahead. I was expecting a bigger hand," the all-in player said as the flop came AJJ, giving Catterson the lead with two pair.
