Manuel Cabello Florensa Wins 888Live Costa Brava Main Event (€11,000)

Manuel Cabello Florensa

The tournament was heads-up between Manuel Cabello Florensa and David Nunez Arguello just before 2am. Playing fairly even stacks of 20 big blinds all the chips went in the middle on a board of 5h2d9s.

Arguello tabled Qh9d but Florensa had his man with Kd9c. The turn card 4h and river 9h sealed the deal and Florensa was the champion.

Florensa is from Catalonia and won his seat online at 888poker.es. Speaking after his victory a delighted Florensa told 888 that this was by far his biggest live cash but he is a big winner online at cash and MTTs.

He came to the table as the short stacks but was happy with the way he grinded his it up. Asked what he was planning to do with the €11,000 first placed prize he answered, “Use it for my poker bankroll.” Spoken like a true player.

Main Event Final Table Set and Streaming on Twitch

Cards were in the air at 5pm as the 58 returning players got ready to play down to a winner at the Gran Casino Costa Brava. Action is often described as fast and furious in poker reports but this really was no exaggeration.

888poker Ambassador Kara Scott was one of the early casualties when she went all in with 9c9s and was called by Chuc Khun holding JhJc and Craig Newton with AhAc. The board ran out Qh2d8c4dqs and Newton claimed two scalps to set the tone.

The bubble was for 19th place and the pace of exits meant that it was reached in close to three hours. Andrei Kolotov was the unlucky player when he moved all in with AsKc and got called by AcQc. The board ran out 8cJh5c2d2c to make a flush on the end. Kolotov was presented with a pair of Sony wireless headphones as a consolation prize.

Just over four hours later the final table of nine was set and it currently looks like this:

Final Table of Nine

888Live Main Event Final Day

It is the final day of the four-day Poker Fiesta here in Lloret de Mar, Costa Brava and at 5pm Main Event gets underway and will play down to a winner.

The tournament attracted 165 entries and 58 players return with hopes of an even better ending to their stay by winning some money.

Jaun Lupou Irpozola is the overnight chip leader on 238,000 with Rutger Steijvers in second on 185,500 and Pavel Fedosa lies third with 170,600. Martin White from the UK heads the chasing pack with 168,800 while 888poker Ambassador Kara Scott bagged up right around average stack with 72,100.

There will be a good few levels to play before the money bubble bursts with 18 places getting paid. A min-cash is then worth €750.

The big money, as always, is up top and the third placed finisher will take home €6,400 while second place pays €7,950.
The winner will receive a beautiful trophy the title of 888Live Costa Brava Champion 2016 and €11,000.

There is also a special $5,000 Bounty Freeroll exclusively for 888poker players who have been eliminated from the Main Event which kicks off at 6pm, and to round off the festivities there will be a farewell VIP party at one of the town’s hotspots “Disco Tropics.”
