After a 10-hour session on Day 1, Day 2 was a quick affair lasting less than two hours. At the end of it all, Russian player "D.Bogachev" emerged the winner of the biggest share of the $546,610 prize pool from 888poker's XL Winter Series Event #43: $500,000 Main Event. They had to make it through the starting field of 2,326 but pocketed $71,278 for their effort.
They started Day 2 third in chips, behind Lithuanian "Eg1D1" and chip leader and fellow Russian "bloodny". While "Eg1D1" made an early exit in 8th place, "bloodny" dominated the late stages of play on Day 1 and picked up Day 2 right where they left off.
"bloodny" dominated play early, taking out three players from the early action. They held the chip lead through much of the final table, and ended up heads-up with "D.Bogachev" for the title.

Day's Action
The first five eliminations today were a whirlwind affair, coming within about 30 minutes of play. Amongst the early exits was Irish pro Dara "Doked" O'Kearney, who ended his run in 7th for $10,932, as well as Canadian online grinder "alexos888" who took 5th for $20,115.
One particular note was the laddering of "chrissop14". They came into the final day with the second shortest stack but managed to put in well-timed shoves and stay alive for a 3rd place finish worth $37,443. In one notable hand, they got there with queen-nine over ace-king, turning a full house against eventual winner "D.Bogachev" and giving "chrissop14" another life to ladder over 4th place finisher "sergebezb".
The winner had a story of their own late in the game. The hand that saw "chrissop14" get there reduced "D.Bogachev" to just 3.4 bigs, but they stormed back, eliminating "chrissop14" just a few hands later after a few doubles of their own.
That sent them into heads-up with the chip lead, and it only took a few hands of play to find a cooler against "bloodny" for the win.
