"bloodny" Leads the Way into Day 2 of 888poker's XL Winter Series Event #43: $500,000 Main Event

Level 45 : 150,000/300,000, 37,500 ante

The final nine players in 888poker's XL Winter Series Event #43: $500,000 Main Event have now been set, and Russian player "bloodny" is the big chip leader going into Day 2 with almost 17.5 million. They played their way through a big starting field of 2,326 entries to have the best shot at what's left of the $546,610 prize pool.

They will be joined on Day 2 by two other players with more than 10 million chips, Lithuanian "Eg1D1" and fellow Russian player "D.Bogachev". Also in the final nine is famed Irish poker pro and author Dara "Doked" O'Kearney. Having just recently written the book on ICM, O'Kearney will be looking to apply that knowledge for Day 2 and the big pay jumps.

"Reggie_Degen" Eliminated in 10th Place ($4,646)

Level 45 : 150,000/300,000, 37,500 ante

"Reggie_Degen" was the final table and Day 2 bubble on the wrong end of a cooler. Most of the damage happened when they got their ace-queen in against the ace-king of "D.Bogachev" and couldn't find a miracle. That left them with barely 100,000 chips and they busted the next hand to set up the final table.

"HenriqLessa": {10-Spades}{9-Spades}
Dara "Doked" O'Kearney: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Saliba Busts in 25th

Level 38 : 50,000/100,000, 12,500 ante

888poker ambassador Vivian "vivi.888." Saliba raised the button to 800,000 to leave just fumes behind, then called those fumes off when "chrissop14" shoved the small blind for 2,338,715.

Vivian "vivi.888." Saliba: {9-Spades}{8-Spades}
chrissop14: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

Saliba was in rough shape, and it just got worse on the board of {q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

"bubbleboybr" Doubles with Flopped Cooler

Level 36 : 35,000/70,000, 8,750 ante

"bubbleboybr" raised the middle to 140,000 and "Gromex_x" called from their left. On the flop of {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} "bubbleboybr" bet 153,037 and "Gromex_x" called.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and "bubbleboybr" fired 420,000. "Gromex_x" called to the {7-Spades} river where they called a shove of 1,119,778.

"bubbleboybr": {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
"Gromex_x": {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

"Gromex_x" hit top-top and turned the nut flush draw, but the set of queens held for a huge double for "bubbleboybr".

"2HitWonder" Hits Again

Level 33 : 22,500/45,000, 5,625 ante

"2HitWonder" is third in chips now after their pocket fives held against ace-ten to knock out "RLYZacEfron". "RLYZacEfron" shoved the cutoff for 552,555 and "2HitWonder" re-shoved more to isolate from the small blind.

"RLYZacEfron": {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
"2HitWonder": {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}

The board of {9-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{q-Spades} was good for the pair, and with the few busts elsewhere, the game is down to 50 players.

"Gromex_x" Collers Two for Huge Lead

Level 31 : 17,500/35,000, 4,375 ante

It was all in before the flop with three players on ace-high. "Teippio94" was in first with the smallest stack of about 10 big blinds, and "Kiki.2019" reshoved from their left with a bit more. "Gromex_x" had everyone covered, and was the thrid shove into the pot to isolate from the cutoff.

"Teippio94": {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
"Kiki.2019": {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
"Gromex_x": {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Not only did "Gromex_x" start with the best hand and biggest stack, by the time the {k-Hearts}{4-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs}{k-Clubs} board was down, they had trip kings for the win.

"b1la1" Takes Stack

Level 29 : 12,500/25,000, 3,125 ante

"morayEEEEEL" raised early to 250,000, leaving just a few chips behind, then called when "b1la1" shoved the cutoff with more.

"morayEEEEEL": {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
"b1la1": {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}

"morayEEEEEL" ended up with a bit more than 10 bigs in the pot with king-queen against aces, and a board of {q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} couldn't help them get there after "b1la1" turned the set.
