Event #43: $500,000 Main Event

Day 1 Completed

"bloodny" Leads the Way into Day 2 of 888poker's XL Winter Series Event #43: $500,000 Main Event

Level 45 : 150,000/300,000, 37,500 ante

The final nine players in 888poker's XL Winter Series Event #43: $500,000 Main Event have now been set, and Russian player "bloodny" is the big chip leader going into Day 2 with almost 17.5 million. They played their way through a big starting field of 2,326 entries to have the best shot at what's left of the $546,610 prize pool.

They will be joined on Day 2 by two other players with more than 10 million chips, Lithuanian "Eg1D1" and fellow Russian player "D.Bogachev". Also in the final nine is famed Irish poker pro and author Dara "Doked" O'Kearney. Having just recently written the book on ICM, O'Kearney will be looking to apply that knowledge for Day 2 and the big pay jumps.

"Reggie_Degen" Eliminated in 10th Place ($4,646)

Level 45 : 150,000/300,000, 37,500 ante

"Reggie_Degen" was the final table and Day 2 bubble on the wrong end of a cooler. Most of the damage happened when they got their ace-queen in against the ace-king of "D.Bogachev" and couldn't find a miracle. That left them with barely 100,000 chips and they busted the next hand to set up the final table.

"Dan_nofx54" Eliminated in 11th Place ($4,646)

Level 45 : 150,000/300,000, 37,500 ante

"Dan_nofx54" shoved the small stack over a button raise from "D.Bogachev" with suited gappers, but couldn't find the cards against ace-high. Play is now hand-for-hand to the final table and Day 2.

"Caballika" Eliminated in 12th Place ($4,646)

Level 43 : 100,000/200,000, 25,000 ante

"alexos888" raised, the called with more after "Caballika" shoved a bit more than 1 million from the cutoff.

"Caballika": {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
"alexos888": {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} to give "alexos888" a flopped pair of queens and the win.

"bubbleboybr" Eliminated in 13th Place ($3,553)

Level 43 : 100,000/200,000, 25,000 ante

"bloodny" got there as all the money went in pre-flop. They raised the cutoff, then called off when "bubbleboybr" shoved the button for almost 3 million.

"bubbleboybr": {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
"bloodny": {j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

"bloodny" was suited, and all they needed was the jack on a board of {8-Spades}{j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades}{q-Clubs}.
