Koenner Puts Bad Beat on Washington

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Efim Koenner
Efim Koenner

A preflop raising war saw Turomne Washington get his stack of approximately 115,000 all in against Efim Koenner. Washington was primed to double with the bigger pocket pair.

Koenner: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Washington: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Unfortunately for Washington, a bad beat was in store as the {5-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} flop contained a nine. Neither the {7-Diamonds} turn nor {3-Clubs} river helped him catch back up and he watched the large pot pushed to Koenner.

A Cooler and a Bad Beat

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Joao Figueiredo and Marv Karlins
Joao Figueiredo and Marv Karlins

Joao Figueiredo raised to 11,000 under the gun and Marv Karlins, who was just moved to the table, three-bet to 50,000 next to act.

Action folded back to Figueiredo and he jammed for 180,000, which Karlins snap called.

Karlins: {a-}{a-}
Figueiredo: {k-}{k-}

It was a cooler, but it also became a bad beat when the flop came down {10-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} to give Figueiredo a full house. Neither the {4-Clubs} turn nor {5-Clubs} river changed a thing and Karlins sent over a big chunk of chips.

Pat Buckley
Pat Buckley

On the money bubble, Leif Oskarsson raised to 16,000 from early position and Pat Buckley three-bet all in for 128,000 from the lojack. Mike Taylor then called from the small blind and Oskarsson thought long and hard before folding what he claimed were pocket tens.

Taylor: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Buckley: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

It was a big flip but Buckley needed to improve to stay alive. Unfortunately for him he couldn't as the board ran out {4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

Buckley exited in 46th place and now the remaining players are guaranteed $405 in prize money.

Barry Bovee

Curtis King was all in preflop for 140,000 and at risk against Barry Bovee.

Bovee: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
King: {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Bovee was out in front and kept the lead on the {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop. Unfortunately for him, the {10-Clubs} on the turn gave king a full house, and the {Q-Spades} river secured him the double.

Bovee was left with 9,000 after the hand, more than tripled it up, and then busted a short time later in 36th place for $446.

Brutal Runout Sends Norman to the Rail

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Edie Jo Norman
Edie Jo Norman

Edie Jo Norman moved all in for 56,000 under the gun and Hyndi Khomutetsky, who was next to act, three-bet to 156,000. The rest of the players folded and the cooler was unveiled.

Norman: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}
Khomutetsky: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Norman was primed to double especially after the {j-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{6-Spades} flop gave her a set and left Khomutetsky looking for runner-runner.

The {Q-Spades} turn was a great card for Khomutetsky giving her both straight and flush draws, and much to the dismay of Norman, the latter draw came in when the {5-Spades} spiked on the river.

With that the field is down to 18 players, who will redraw down to the final two tables.

Mike Taylor - 16th Place

Mike Taylor got his last 205,000 all in preflop and found himself in dire straits against Larry Negron.

Taylor: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Negron: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Taylor was in desperate need of a three but instead the {2-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{k-Spades} flop brought Negron a set. The {5-Hearts} turn left Taylor drawing dead and he headed for the payout desk after the meaningless {10-Hearts} was run out on the river.
