Ante Up Poker Tour
Ante Up Poker Tour

The first four flights of the Ante Up Poker Tour $250 Main Event have been considered a success by tournament organizers with a total of 361 entries thus far. That has already surpassed the $60,000 guaranteed prizepool and there is still one more flight tonight.

Day 1E will get underway at 6 p.m. this evening and those lucky enough to bag chips at the end of the night will join the survivors from the first four flights on Day 2 tomorrow. It's already been a busy day at Tampa Bay Downs with plenty of horse racing going on outside and a lot of poker action inside.

Tonight, players will begin with 25,000 starting chips with the blinds at 100/100. A big blind ante will be introduced in the second level and will continue throughout. The levels will be 30-minutes in length for all Day 1s and increase to 40 minutes on the final day. There will be a 10-minute break after every four levels with play ending after a total of 14 levels.

Late registration will remain open until the start of level nine. Players will be given the option of unlimited re-entries until that point. Should a player bag chips on multiple starting flights, only their best stack will be brought forward to the final day.

Shuffle Up and Deal

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

The tournament director has announced that the button will start in seat nine and the cards are now in the air on the last flight of the Main Event. There are currently four tables up and running with 18 entries to kick things off.

Kolaxis Takes an Early Beat

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Nick Kolaxis was under the gun and went heads-up to a flop with the player on his left. The dealer fanned the flop of {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and both players checked to the {a-Hearts} on the turn.

Kolaxis checked again and his opponent bet 1,000 into a pot of around 1,500. Kolaxis check-raised to 3,000 and his opponent just called. The river was the {7-Diamonds} and Kolaxis led out for 5,000. His opponent raised to 11,000 and Kolaxis quickly called.

Although Kolaxis flopped trips with {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, his opponent turned a full house with {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} to take down a big pot early on.

March Picks One Up on the Turn

Level 2 : 100/200, 100 ante

Three players saw a flop of {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and the action checked to Karl Manouchakian on the button who bet 600. Kevin Castillo check-raised to 2,000 from the big blind and Steve March flat-called on his left. Manouchakian gave it some thought but decided to let his hand go.

The turn was the {k-Diamonds} and Castillo checked again. This time, March put together a bet of 4,000 and Castillo sent his cards to the muck.

Woodbery Plays the Queens Cautiously

Level 2 : 100/200, 100 ante

There was a raise to 500 from middle position and Herbert Woodbery just called from the cutoff. The flop came {k-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} and Woodbery was faced with a bet of 1,500 which he called.

The {5-Diamonds} landed on the turn and the action was the same leading up to the {6-Hearts} on the river. This time Woodbery was faced with a bet of 3,000 but he still called.

"You're good," his opponent said and Woodbery tabled {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} to rake in the pot.
