King Folds Ace-King

Mike King is a colorful character who enjoys himself on the felt, but he was just put to a tough decision by fellow Kiwi Graeme Putt.

Catching the action on the turn on a board of {9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{J-Spades} there was already around 14,000 in the pot when Putt moved all in for 12,150.

King stood from his chair and chatted away to Putt for several minutes.

Channeling a higher power, King sighed, "What would Lee Nelson do?" before eventually folding his {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} face up.

"I'll show you one," said Putt and flashed the {2-Hearts}. "Only one," continued Putt as he flipped the card over to reveal a matching {2-Clubs}.

A nice fold by King leaves himself with 20,000 chips as Putt climbs to around 28,000.

99 Players Remain

"Yes! We're all in the top 100!" shouted Mike King as he returned to his chair with a double fist pump.

Indeed, the big screen confirmed that 99 players remain, but that's only for today Mike! There's still a long way to go...!

Potts Aces Cardno

On the final hand before the break, Bill Potts has picked up some chips courtesy of Martin Cardno.

Preflop a player in middle position opened to 750, and Potts from the hijack and the player on the button called. The small blind folded, and Cardno made 3,150 from the big blind.

Both Potts and the button called and they took a {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} flop. Cardno led 3,500 with Potts the only caller going to the turn {3-Clubs}.

On the turn Cardno checked and Potts moved all in, forcing a fold from Cardno.

Potts flashed {A-Diamonds}{a-Spades} for a flopped Aces full of Tens.

Mike King Is Vicious

On a flop of {k-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, Mike King called a 10,000-chip all-in bet from his opponent and rolled over {A-Hearts}{a-Spades}. That was enough to be ahead of his opponent's {K-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}.

"Ahh, that looks like the end of me," said his opponent. The board ran out {7-Clubs} and {5-Hearts} to indeed put a full stop on his tournament.

"Ohhhh yeah!" said King as he dragged the pot.

"You're not a real humble winner are you Mike?" questioned Brooke Howard-Smith.

"Nope, I'm vicious! I'll sleep with your woman and smile at you while I'm doing it," replied King.

"I'm from Christchurch and that's how we roll," added King. King is on 30,000 chips at the moment and providing plenty of entertainment fr his table.

Sing Fading

In a limped pot, three players, including Dan Sing on the button, took a flop of {2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. They all checked around and the turn brought the {A-Spades}.

The small blind led out for 1,100 which forced one fold before Sing made the call.

The river was the {Q-Clubs} landed to which the small blind fired another 2,000.

"You haven't got two-three have you?" questioned Sing before tossing out calling chips.

Sing was close, as his opponent flipped {2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for trip deuces to collect the pot as Sing slips to 11,000 chips.

Michael Shinzaki
Michael Shinzaki
On a flop of {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, Michael Shinzaki from the small blind checked to Assadour Assadourian on the button who fired 1,500. Shinzaki made the call and the {7-Clubs} arrived on the turn.

Shinzaki checked and again called, this time for 2,000.

The river was the overcard {K-Spades} as both players checked it down. Shinzaki confidently flipped {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} which was good as Assadourian mucked.

Shinzaki is over 60,000 now as Assadourian, father of Eric, slips back to 18,000.
