Day 1a Started
The 2011 PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour has made its way to the beautiful Grand Lisboa Hotel and Casino for the premier poker stop in Asia.
Last year saw 341 players take to the felt in the 2010 APPT Macau Main Event and by all reports, this year is set to be even bigger as a procession of the best poker players from all around the world file into the glamorous Grand Lisboa.
It was Victorino Torres who took down the glory in last year's event and the huge HKD 3,246,200 to go along with it. The buy-in was a little higher in that event, but it is looking like the 500-player cap is set to be met as extra tables are set up in the tournament area.
Play will be kicking off in just a short while at 12:10 p.m. local time and PokerNews will be on the floor providing all the action form the first of two Day 1 flights!
After a riveting introduction, PokerStars.net APPT Tournament Director Danny McDonough has asked the dealers to shuffle up and deal!
Level: 1
Blinds: 50/100

Players will start the day with 30,000 in chips and today will be the first of two Day 1 flights.
The blind levels will last 60 minutes and will be starting at 50/10.
There will be plenty of tough action at the felt so be sure to tune in!
A quick look around the room and there are plenty of familiar faces.

It didn't take long for Victor Chen to see his stack increase exponentially and we caught all the action.
It was a raised pot between Chen and one opponent which saw a flop hit the felt, at which point Chen led for 625. His opponent thought for a few moments before making it 1,050 more to go.
Chen counted out his stack and then threw out another raise, before his opponent sent out yet another raise. At this points Chen was only left with five chips - albeit five of the largest denomination chips - as he played with his remaining 25,000 while contemplating his next move. After a few minutes in the tank, Chen flung out his 25,000 and his opponent looked pained as he watched them hit the felt.
After another couple of minutes, Chen's opponent slid his stack in and cringed when Chen table for top-set, which was well ahead of his two-pair with .
The turn and river bricked out as Chen took down the huge pot to become an early chip leader, while his opponent was left with only a few thousand chips.

We've just been told a little rumor; Phil Ivey is on his way to play the 2011 PokerStars.net APPT Macau. Whether or not the rumor is true has yet to be determined, but we'll stay on the subject and let you know the minute we find out anything new.
The player from under the gun made it 500 to go before Mark Vos made the call in middle position. Another player in late position decided to come along for the rise, while the big blind would also pay the extra to see a flop.
Flop:
The four players decided to check the action and watched as the hit the turn. The play was checked to Vos and he threw out a 500-chip bet.
As cards went into the muck from all directions, Vos would glance to his right as a check-raise was made from the under the gun player. Almost as quickly as Vos had noticed the raise, his cards were flung into the muck as he sent the pot to his opponent.
