Day 1b Started
Welcome back to Sky City Casino as the 2011 APPT Queenstown Main Event continues, with Day 1b action set to kick off shortly!
Yesterday saw 40 players take to the felt, dishing out the NZ$2,700 entry fee and it is expected that today and tomorrow will easily trump that number. Expected to play in today’s field include the likes of 2005 WSOP Main Event Champion Joe Hachem, his brother and two-time ANZ Player of the Year winner Tony Hachem, 2010 APPT Sydney Main Event Champion Jonathan Karamalikis and Andrew Hinrichsen, fresh from his deep run at this years WSOP Main Event.
The international contingent of players will be looking to use today to knock the Kiwi’s off the top of the castle after three New Zealanders trumped yesterday’s field on home felt, with the chip leader board currently led by New Zealand’s Cole Swannack, with 86,050 in chips.
Play is again set for 12.30 p.m local time, so be sure to join the PokerNews Live Reporting Team in bringing you all the action, as the cards are back in the air in just over an hour.

There is bound to be some exciting action today, with some interesting tables pooping up around the Summit Room at Sky City Casino.
Over on Table 1 we have 2010 APPT Sydney Main Event Champion Jonathan Karamalikis and two seats to his left is 2011 ANZPT Perth Main Event winner Grant Levy. Yet to be sighted, but set to settle in a seat just a few places to Levy's left is Jesse McKenzie, who currently sits second on the ANZ Player of the Year leader board.
Last year's APPT Auckland runner-up finisher, Tom Griig is over on Table 2 and he is sitting opposite WSOP bracelet winner and New Zealand's own Simon Watt.
Young Aussie players Ryan McKay and Daniel Neilson are seated at Table 5, along with the likes of 2010 APPT Sydney runner-up Ben McLean and local regular Martin Cardno.
Table 3 may be the most 'stacked' table, with Hugh Cohen, Andrew Hinrichsen, Daniel Laidlaw and Danny Chevalier already taking their seats and with Michael Pedley set to also be featured on that table.
Keep it right here folks, today is set to be an action packed day!
Danny Chevalier is no stranger to success in Queenstown, having managed to take down the first ever ANZPT event held in this fine city in 2009.
We came to the action with Chevalier in a pot against one player and with a flop showing . Chevalier was first to act and he checked the action to his opponent who made it 675 to see a turn.
The on the turn would see Chevalier make a check-raise to 4,000 after his opponent led for 1,125. A call would see the land on the river.
Chevalier would opt to lead on the river, throwing out 7,000. A call from his opponent would see Chevalier table his , the full-house good enough to send his opponents cards into the muck.

When Karamalikis checked, Levy would fire out 400 and the cutoff player woould make the call. With Karamalikis making the fold, the hit the turn. Again Levy bet, throwing out 675. Table 5 has managed to play as aggressively as it looks, with this hand playing out between a few of the famaliar faces.
The action started when Hugh Cohen opened the pot to 300 from under the gun. When play folded to Daniel Laidlaw in middle position, he made the call. Danny Chevalier was in late position when he three-bet to 900. With play back on Cohen he made the call and it was back on Laidlaw who then decided to four-bet to 2,800.
Chevalier then went into the tank before deciding to fold and it was up to Cohen, who after a few minutes also decided to make the fold.

Turn:
This time the first to act again hcecked, as did McKay while the last to act made it 1,200 to go. McKay was lone caller as a river would be dealt.
River:
McKay led for 1,300 on the river and his opponent popped it to 4,000. McKay made the call and his opponent turned over for a whole lot of nothing, while McKay's would see him take down the pot.
