Day 3 Is Here With Schreiner In Control

Chipleader, Marcel Schreiner
Chipleader, Marcel Schreiner

The 2011 PokerStars.net APPT Queenstown has reached its penultimate day of action here at Sky City Casino and it is 21 players who remain in the running for the APPT title.

Leading the way is Germany’s Marcel Schreiner with his monster 453,800-chip stack equalling more than double that of his nearest rival, Tom Grigg.

While Grigg starts second-in-chips here, there is still a little sense of déjà vu coming into Day 3, with Grigg having started as the chipleader on the same day at last year’s APPT Auckland event. Grigg would go on to finish second in that event and it will be interesting to see how he does here all the way down the other end of New Zealand.

Also returning with a fighting chance at a final table berth is Jonathan Karamalikis, with the 2010 APPT Sydney Grand Final champion starting the day with just a touch less chips than Grigg.

Join the PokerNews Live Reporting team on the floor here in the Summit Room at Sky City Casino in Queenstown, as we kick off the action in just under an hour, playing down to a final table and getting all the closer to crowning our champion!
