Day 1a Chip Leader Eliminated

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Weiyi Zhang got things started with a raise to 18,000 from under the gun plus one. He was called by Zhifeng Yao and Ronald Chun Long Yu from the blinds and the three watched the flop come down {2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}.

Yao and Yu checked before Zhang threw out a 28,000 continuation bet. Yao then moved all in for 139,000 which was enough to force out Yu. Zhang asked for count before making the call before both players tabled their cards.

Yao: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

Zhang: {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Yao was in a commanding position with his ace high and higher flush draw. The {10-Spades} on the turn was no concerm, however, the {9-Clubs} on the river paired up Zhang to reward him the pot.

Ruan Busts to Li

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Heyu Li raised to 20,000 from under the gun before Zhao Jun Ruan moved all in for his last 99,000 from the button. The blinds folded their hands before Li made the call.

Li: {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Ruan: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

It was smooth sailing for Ruan who kept his advantage after the flop came {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Unfortunately the {j-Spades} on the turn sent Li into the lead with a pair and Ruan was unable to connect on the {6-Diamonds} river as he was sent to the rail.

Cheng Rivers Zhao

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Picking up the action on a flop of {A-Clubs}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs}, Fan Zhao check-raised from 25,000 to 65,000 out of the big blind and Yat Wai Cheng made the call to see the {J-Diamonds} on the turn. Both players checked and the {7-Hearts} fell on the river. Zhao checked and faced a large bet worth 140,000 by Cheng to make a reluctant call.

Cheng tabled his {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for trips sevens and that scooped a nice pot and made him the new chip leader.

Fu With 5 Big Blinds Left

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

The full betting action is amiss, but start-of-the-day chip leader Xiaohua Fu just tried to steal the pot on the river of a {10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Spades}{A-Hearts} board by betting 55,000. Qu Liu check-raised all in out of the big blind and Fu snap-folded his cards with sheer frustration on the face.

Cooler for Cardyn

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Yat Wai Cheng opened to 16,000 and was called by Choon Siang Tan as well as Nicolas Cardyn in the small blind. On the {8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop, Cardyn check-raised to 128,000 and Cheng forfeited his continuation bet of 40,000. Tan had called Cheng's bet and also put in the extra chips to see the {2-Clubs} turn.

Cardyn immediately moved all in and Tan snap-called with {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}, way ahead of the {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs} of the Frenchman. The {Q-Clubs} river completed the board and Tan doubled for 144,000 chips.
