Yogo Doubles

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Iori Yogo raised to 700 and received two callers to see a flop of {4-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{6-Spades}. The player from one seat over of the Japanese raised from 1,7000 to 3,550 while the third player in the hand mucked his cards, Yogo called. Then, the dealer burned and turned the {K-Hearts} turn to see Yogo check-raise all in.

His opponent had made a bet of 4,550 and Yogo's all in was for another 14,700 on top of that. It took another minute for the call after the amount had verified and the opponent was drawing to a flush with the {K-Spades}{J-Spades} while Yogo's {Q-Hearts}{K-Clubs} had found top two pair. The {Q-Diamonds} river gave the Japanese a full house and he jumped into the current big stacks.

Optional Re-Entry

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Dennis Wilke lost his first stack with pocket queens versus {A-}{K-} after an ace immediately showed up on the flop. The German then re-entered the competition and lost some chips of the second bullet as well. All players have the chance to re-enter once until the end of level 5 and this will become increasingly important tomorrow on Day 1b.

Wilke's buddy Michael Allmrodt has had a much better start with more than twice the initial stack.

Choi Doubles Through White

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

"Nice hand," Ben White said after he had shipped over a big portion of his stack to Sungil Choi in seat one. The board was reading {2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts} and both players had a raising war with White's four-bet preflop just getting called before the remaining stack of Choi went in after the flop.

Choi's all in with the {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} was for 18,475 still and White's pocket queens came up second-best, as they were already in the muck.

Allmrodt 's Kings get Cracked

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Wayde Rickhuss opened to 1,000 from early position and the action reached to Michael Allmrodt in the big blind. The Austrian raised to 3,000 and his opponent from Australia announced all in after some consideration. Allmrodt called it off with the superior stack and flipped over the {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}.

Rickhuss only had {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} but got there on a board of {2-Spades}{J-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}. "Sorry bro, you gotta understand I have been pushed around by ace-five and other crappy hands," the Australian apologized.

EIGHTTTT

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

The table broke shortly after and the board was already rushed away, but what was possible via mobile and translator Vietnamese to English is the following: Hai Ha Tran had raised from early position and the player in the big blind defended. On the {10-}{10-}{Q-}{9-} turn the two of them got their chips in and the player at risk was loudly demanding for an eight.

However, it was an ace and Tran scooped the pot with {K-}{J-} versus {10-}{8-} to scoop the huge pot.

Zhou Crests 100,000

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Xiang Zhou
Xiang Zhou

Xiang Zhou just became the first player to build a six-figure stack here in Manila and is now the chip leader.

So far, Zhou's day has been marked by two big hands where he flopped two pair.

One saw him take heaps off a player with an open-ended straight draw when he flopped two pair holding {10-}{9-}. The other involved Zhou flopping two pair with {Q-}{9-} and taking all of a player's chips who was in the unfortunate position of having flopped top-pair top-kicker with {a-}{q-}.

Zhou is here in Manila fresh off a fourth-place finish in the Asia Championship of Poker - Platinum Series IX Main Event in Macau this past June and appears to be running pretty good right now.
