"Did you say yes?"

You might hear those kind of questions in poker tables too, but for a whole different kind of reason. There was a controversy hand in a table where Fumimasa Hirasawa had gone all in for 15,000 chips in the river, with the board reading .

His opponent had bet 4,900, and was in the tank, struggling whether he should call or not. He then asked the dealer if he could open his cards while he was thinking, which is what he did, eventually.

As soon as he opened his cards, the dealer picked them up and put them to the muck, giving the pot to Hirasawa. The other player asked the dealer why she took his cards, since he didn't announce any action, and she called the floor manager.

The floor manager said that the rules say he can't open his cards, and think. If he opens them, it is an instant fold. The player said that he asked the dealer, and she said yes.

"Did you say yes?", the floor manager asked the dealer. "No," was her reply, and then the floor turned to the player, and said "She didn't say yes".

"Oh she said yes", was the player's answer, and the floor person said one last time "she didn't say yes", before leaving the table.

Either way, Hirasawa is the player who won the pot.
