Bad Beat

On the first hand back from the break, USA player Brandon Brown announced "call" to a 1,000 raise, only to have his cards mucked by the dealer. The Tournament Director's decision was that the 1,000 still had to be paid and that despite the dealer's error, it is a player's responsibility to protect his hand.

Tilted by this decision, Brown was out two hands later!

Slowly Does it

We are not sure if it is the tropical weather or just the relaxed state of all the players, but everyone is taking their time and seems to be avoiding major confrontations for the most part.

Van Liere Takes a Scalp

On a flop of {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}, the big blind moves all in for 4,075 and is called by Netherlands player Bas Van Liere.

Van Liere opens {A-Spades}{9-Spades} and his opponent shows {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}.

The turn {5-Spades} and river {2-Diamonds} have no effect and Van Liere eliminates a player. He now has 26,000 in chips.

Tony Hachem Eliminated

After eroding his stack to only 700, Tony Hachem moves all in and Swede Andreas Bardun comes over the top. All other players fold and the hands are tabled.

Hachem: {A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Bardun: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

With a board of {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades} Tony heads to the rail and only one Hachem remains. Joe is sitting on 17,000 in chips.

Chinese Poker in the Cards

Rumour has it that the second leg of the PokerStars APPT in Seoul, Korea, will include a US$500 Chinese poker tournament. This is bound to prove very popular and could prove to increase main event numbers.

Rousso has been playing poker since she was five years old. Most people started to take notice of the young phenomenon when she started final tabling tournaments on the World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour circuits. At age 22, she became the youngest woman to ever make a final table in a World Series event.

While her name was becoming familiar to many people, the entire poker world stood up and took notice when Rousso made a storybook run at the 2006 World Poker Tour Championship. Rousso was well on her way to making the televised final table when she suffered a bad beat and went out in seventh place, earning more than $260,000.
