Adam Kagin Picks Up Aces at the Perfect Time

Action folded around to Adam Kagin in late position who raised to 1,800. The player on the button re-raised to 5,000. Kagin re-rasied all in and the button called. The players showed:

Kagin: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}
Opponent: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

Kagin's Aces were best come showdown and he increased his stack to 33,000 and eliminated yet another player in the process.

Yosh Nakano Eliminated

Action folded around to Yosh Nakano in the cutoff seat. Nakano raised to 3,000. Dan Schreiber, who had Nakano covered, moved all in from the small blind. Nakano called and the players tabled their hands.

Nakano: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Schreiber: {Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The flop was disaster for Nakano as it came down {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Spades}. The turn and river weren't much help either as they brought the {3-Diamonds} and {4-Diamonds} respectively. Dan Schreiber not only took down the pot, but increased his chip stack to 70,000 and sent Nakano to the rail.

Andrew Scott Eliminated

Andrew Scott was eliminated when he raised all in on the turn with the board showing {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and was called by James Honeybone. Scott was in the lead with {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, but Honeybone had outs as he held the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. The {Q-Hearts} on the river was all that was needed to send the pot towards Honeybone and Scott to the rail. Honeybone is now sitting behind a stack of 51,000.

Alex Fitzgerald Doubles Through Joe Hachem

We caught up to this hand on the turn. The board read Q-T-4-4. With a decent amount of chips already in the pot, Alex Fitzgerald pushed his remaining stack of 12,950 across the line. Hachem, who had Fitzgerald well covered, made the call. The players showed:

Fitzgerald: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Hachem: {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

The dealer put down the {5-Spades} on the river which was no help to Hachem who is now down to 15,000 chips. Fitzgerald is back in the mix with about 34,000.

Just before the break, a short-stacked Graeme Putt moved all in for his last 3,000 holding the {A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Putt got action for David Tomanaga who held {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. Putt's situation went from bad to worse when Tomanaga flopped a set with the {J-Diamonds}. Putt failed to catch any of his runner-runner draws and was eliminated.

Dan Schreiber is First to Reach 100K

Dan Schreiber
Dan Schreiber
Action folds around to Dan Schreiber on the button who raised to 2,000. Kelly Flynn called from the small blind and the players saw a flop of:

{K-Spades}{Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

Flynn bet 5,000 and Schreiber called. The turn brought the {7-Clubs}. Flynn bet 15,000 and Schreiber moved all in. Flynn went into the tank for a bit, but eventually called. Schreiber showed {Q-Clubs}{8-Spades} which was well ahead of Flynn's {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. The river brought the {5-Hearts} and Schreiber took down the pot and sent Flynn out the door. Schreiber is now the dominant chip leader with almost 120,000.

Joe Hachem Eliminated

Action folded around to Jacques Zaicik in the small blind who raised to 2,400. Joe Hachem, playing from the big blind, peeked quickly at his hole cards. After a brief deliberation, Hachem announced a re-raise. The '05 World Champ then pushed his entire chip stack across the betting line. Zaicik made the call and the players showed:

Hachem: 3-3
Zaicik: A-K

It was a coinflip situation for the Aussie that did not go his way. The {K-Diamonds} on the flop was all that was needed to give Zaicik the pot and send Hachem on his way. Ironically it was Zaicik who eliminated another Team PokerStars player Vanessa Rousso earlier in the tournament.
