John Kasbarian Wins Monster Pot

John Kasbarian raised to 4,000 with {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and was re-raised by Billy Martin who went all in for 21,000 with {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. Kasbarian made the call and the flop was {9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and Martin needed to see an ace or king. The turn brought the {6-Spades} and when the {4-Diamonds} came on the river Martin was heading for the rail. Kasbarian is now sitting pretty with over 65,000 in chips.

By the Numbers

Tournament director Danny McDonagh has just informed us that there were 179 entrants to today's Day 1a competition. Of those 179 runners, 162 remain, and a handful of players have still yet to take their seats.

In the event that the missing players do not show up after the first three levels of play, the tournament staff will remove their chips from play and their entry fees would thus be forfeited.

Lei He Wins Another Big Pot

After eliminating "Fossilman," Lei He has continued to accumulate chips, and has just knocked out By Famous in a huge pot. The board read {Q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{8-Spades}{K-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and Famous checked. He bet 5,000 and Famous raised all in for 20,000. He instantly made the call with {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} and Famous turned over {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and was heading for the rail.

Mitchell Price Eliminates Daniel Allam

Mitchell Price has taken down a massive pot of over 50,000. Holding {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, Price bet 4,000 into Allam when the flop came {3-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. Allam raised all in for 24,000 and Price went into the tank. After a long time Price made the call and had Allam's {A-Spades}{J-Hearts} dominated. The turn was the {A-Spades} and Allam had outs, but a blank {Q-Hearts} on the river meant the end of his tournament life.

Rahme Rolling

Tournament director Danny McDonagh has just announced that 2007 WSOP Main Event finalist Raymond Rahme has amassed a chip stack of over 100,000 - quite the feat considering we've only just entered the fourth level of play.

"I'm not even going to look for second," McDonagh joked.

Sydney Player Patrick Fletcher Doubles Up

Local Sydney star Patrick Fletcher is in good shape after taking down a big pot. Fletcher is in good form after a successful trip to Vegas, including third place at the Binions Classic Final Event. Fletcher had {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} and all the chips went in pre-flop. His opponent turned over {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} and received no help. Fletcher is now holding over 40,000 in chips.
