Kou Vang Eliminated in 15th Place ($15,000)

Kou Vang - 15th Place
Kou Vang - 15th Place
What did the players eat for dinner? In the first 17 minutes since we've been back, three players have busted in rapid succession. The latest to do so was Kou Vang. Vang opened the pot from middle position with a raise to 15,000. Quang Nguyen, sitting in the small blind, reraised to 50,000. Action folded back to Vang, who shoved his whole stack in. Nguyen snap-called and tabled the preflop nuts, {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}. Vang had {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} and could not improve on a board of {7-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {9-Spades}.

Vang earns a tidy $15,000 for finishing in 15th place. Nguyen earns a stack of about 315,000 chips and the right to continue fighting to make the final table.

Timoshenko Pushes Pedley Out

Yevgeniy Timoshenko is using his stack to intimidate his table. He raised to 11,000 preflop and found a caller in the big blind -- Michael Pedley. On a flop of {7-Spades} {2-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}, Pedley checked to Timoshenko, who bet 14,000. Pedley tried a check-raise to 28,000, only to see Timoshenko come back over the top of him to 64,000.

That was enough for Pedley. He folded to preserve his remaining 125,000 chips. Timoshenko is now up to about 340,000.

Carter Gill Eliminated in 14th Place ($15,000)

Action folded to Carter Gill in late position, who promptly moved all in for 55,000 chips. Joon Hee Yeah, in the small blind, decided to give Gill action and called with {A-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}. He was ahead of Gill's {Q-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} and promptly flopped two pair, {A-Spades} {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}, to put a stranglehold on the hand. Gill caught his own two pair when the turn came {Q-Clubs}, but the river {j-Clubs} sent him packing.

"Good game," said Gill. Yeah now has about 260,000 chips.

Karian Stands Up to Timoshenko

Someone has finally stood up to Yevgeniy Timoshenko. He raised yet another pot, this time to 12,500. Rober Karian called from the button. On a flop of {10-Clubs} {2-Spades} {9-Diamonds}, Timoshenko bet 17,500. Karian's response was simply to shove al in for 134,000. Apparently even Timoshenko has his limits; he folded.

Timoshenko slipped back to 305,000. Karian now has 180,000.

Pedley Doubles Through Diaz

Julio Diaz has been relatively quiet ever since winning a monster pot before dinner to jump into the chip lead. He finally changed that by raising to 11,000 from middle position. Michael Pedley called out of the big blind.

Fireworks ensued on a flop of {2-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {3-Spades}. Pedley led into Diaz for 17,000. Diaz promptly raised to 52,000, but Pedley was undeterred and shoved all in for about 130,000. Diaz tanked but ultimately made the call. Each player opened his hand.

Pedley: {K-Clubs} {7-Clubs}
Diaz: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}

Pedley had an eight-out draw to the nuts to hit, or else be bounced from the tournament. He missed the turn {8-Hearts}, but hit the river {6-Clubs}, eliciting a gasp from the crowd gathered around the table.

Diaz still has plenty of chips, with about 358,000. Pedley now is near the top of the board with 309,000.

Moritz Schmejkal Eliminated in 13th Place ($18,750)

PartyPoker qualifier Moritz Schmejkal's run at the APT Macau Main Event is over. He pushed all in for 50,000 after Joon Hee Yeah had opened for 15,000. Yeah made the call with {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}. That hand elicited a nervous little sigh for Schmejkal as he opened {A-Spades} {10-Spades}.

"Good luck," Schmejkal said.

Each player flopped a pair -- {2-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}. Neither improved on the {J-Hearts} turn, but Yeah spiked the {Q-Spades} on the river for trips. Schmejkal just nodded as if he suspected all along that's how the hand would play out, said "Good game," and headed for payouts.
