Steicke Eliminated

David Steicke, the recent champion of the AU$100,000 buy-in no-limit hold'em event at the Aussie Millions, has been eliminated. His {A-?}{J-?} ran into an opponent's pocket queens, all in preflop, and never improved.

Scott Straightens Out

You thought you were happy back then?
You thought you were happy back then?
Catching the action with the board reading {J-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{7-Spades} and 3,600 in the middle, Andrew Scott led out for 1,500 from the small blind and was met with a reraise to 3,500.

Scott sat emotionless before sliding his whole stack into the middle for a total of 13,025. His opponent cut down the amount to call before splashing into the pot with his {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}.

Scott stood up and tabled his {10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} while announcing, "Just a king or an eight, king or eight!" The dealer smacked the {8-Hearts} on the river to see Scott slam the table with his hand in excitement to double with a queen-high straight to just under 30,000 in chips.

Another Small Pot for Tan

There were 2,000 chips in the middle on a flop of {6-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} between Ivan Tan and one other player. Tan's opponent was first to act and lazily tossed a yellow (1,000) chip into the pot. Tan called.

The turn fell {5-Hearts}. Again Tan's opponent tossed a yellow chip into the middle, and again Tan called. It was on the river {3-Hearts} were things slowed down. The action checked to Tan, who tossed in a single yellow chip of his own. He showed {A-Spades} {10-Spades} after being called. His opponent flashed {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} before mucking.

Wu Staves Off Elimination

Raymond Wu had just lost a pot to Steve Sung after calling 2,000 on the river of a board of {3-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} and being shown {5-?} {6-?}. A few hands later, he opened all in from the small blind for 2,400. The big blind called with {A-Spades} {J-Spades}; Wu had {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}.

Everybody caught a piece of the {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} flop. The turn {10-Clubs} gave Wu a straight draw to go along with his pair and flush draw. It was the flush draw that filled on the {7-Diamonds} river. Wu doubled up to 5,000 to stay in the tournament.

Raymond Wu Eliminated

Raymond Wu tried and tried to get out of the hole he was in. He doubled up earlier to stay in the tournament, but his luck finally ran out. After an early-position player opened for 850 and was called by a player in middle position, Wu shipped his stack of 3,025 into the middle. The early-position player then moved all in, folding the cold caller. Wu's {A-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} was drawing live against his opponent's {K-Spades} {K-Hearts}, but the board ran out nine-high to bounce him from the tournament.

Samson Snips Away at Saab

Sunshine Samson was recently moved to David Saab's table and has kicked things off by taking a small pot off him.

The model and cardroom manager opened to 1,000 from the button and Saab defended from the big blind. The flop fell down {9-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Saab check-folded to Samson's 1,500 bet.

As both continue to enjoy each other's banter, Samson is steadily building back to her starting stack sitting with 8,000 while Saab is hovering at 24,000 in chips.

Andrew Scott and Chris Back Make Introductions

Andrew Scott's table recently broke, He landed on Table 7, to the immediate left of Benjamin Lim. Scott brought a sizable stack to the table and found that Chris Back had an even bigger stack. The two tangled quickly, with Back raising from early position, then reraising to 6,300 after Scott made it 2,500 to go from middle position.

Scott called to a flop of {2-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}. Back was first to act and bet 6,600.

"Alright, whose overpair is bigger?" asked Scott. He got no answer and eventually folded his hand, telling Back, "OK, I'll let you win."

Once the chips were pushed to Back, Scott asked, "Ace-king?"

"You'll never know," replied Back. Back now has 37,000 chips. Scott is sitting pretty with 28,000.
