Rheem Off to Bad Start

Rheem runs bluff
Rheem runs bluff
David "Chino" Rheem is off to a bad start in his Round Two match against Eddy Sabat.

Preflop, Sabat called from the button and Rheem checked his option, before leading out for 100 on a flop of {6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Sabat raised to 300 and Rheem made the call. The turn of the {10-Hearts} fell and Rheem led for 600 with Sabat making the call.

The river landed the {8-Spades} and Rheem splashed the pot with a 1,500-chip bet which put Sabat into the tank. After nearly two minutes Sabat eventually made the call and Rheem tabled {K-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} but was no good against Sabat's {K-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

As Sabat raked in the pot Emad Tahtouh commented, "Hey, its APT versus APPT." Rheem looked up and asked what Tahtouh meant. After explaining that Sabat was the APPT Macau champion Rheem responded with, "I wish I knew that before I bluffed 1,500 on the river!"

Match Updates

Jonathan Karamalikis and Nico Behling have been eliminated from Round One, sending Jason Gray and Jan Suchanek through.

Alexander Kostritsyn has just been eliminated for the second time in this tournament; being taken care of by David Gent.

As Gent moves through to Round Three, there is one remaining Round One match with Andrew Scott holding a one-nil lead against Dmitriy Ivanteev . . . it is truly the marathon battle for the day!

Chino Struggling

David "Chino" Rheem is currently facing a one-nil deficit to Eddy Sabat and most recently lost half his stack in the following hand.

Sabat opened to 250 from the button and Rheem made the call. The flop fell down {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{K-Clubs} and Rheem check-raised Sabat's 100-chip bet to 200 with Sabat making the call.

The turn fell the {5-Hearts} and Rheem continued his aggression, firing again for 200 with Sabat making the call. Rheem checked to Sabat when the river landed the {9-Hearts} and with that, Sabat made a bet of 1,775.

Visibly upset, Rheem flashed the {7-Spades} and mucked his hand while slipping to 2,750 in chips as Sabat gained the upper hand.

Up one-nil, Emad Tahtouh is continuing to pressure opponent Chris Moorman.

Tahtouh called a 300 preflop raise from Moorman, then check-called 300 on the flop followed by 600 on the turn before the river went check, check, on a board reading {8-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}.

Moorman tabled {5-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a busted straight draw while Tahtouh tabled {A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} to take the pot and a 3-to-1 chip advantage.
