Steve 'The Big Show' Topakas has defied all odds, surviving an unthinkable amount of come-from-behind situations to stay alive in the tournament. Moments ago, we witnessed another one.
Topakas open-shoved all in from under-the-gun holding and was called by Jurgen Wenigwiester in the big blind, who woke up to queens.
The flop came flop gave Topakas a pair of extra outs, and runner-runner straight possibilities to chop the pot, but he got all the help he needed on the turn when the rolled off giving him two pair. The river blanked -- -- and Topakas' railbirds went bonkers.
After the hand, one of the players at Topakas' table commented, "He's like Steven Segal; you can't kill the guy!"
After the hand, Topakas was back up to 161,000 in chips.
Kosmas Dratsas completed out of the small blind and Sorel Mizzi raised from the big blind to 50,000. Dratsas made the call.
The flop came down and Dratsas checked. Mizzi fired 60,000 before Dratsas check-raised to 160,000. Mizzi made the call.
The turn was the and Dratsas fired 170,000. Mizzi called.
The landed on the river and Dratsas checked. Mizzi fired a big 400,000. Dratsas tanked with 1.3 million left in his stack. After a few minutes, he mucked his hand, mumbling that he didn't know if two pair was good.
Mizzi scooped the pot and moved up to 3.3 million. He's still the chip leader.
Should chip leader Sorel Mizzi take down the 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event championship tomorrow afternoon, he'd be able to afford enough pairs of shoes to fill the MCG, and by the look of it, he could afford to keep a pair or two for himself.
Your chip leader is currently sitting with 3.3 million in chips.
Action folded around the table to Steve Friedlander on the button who opened with a raise to 40,000. Peter Jetten flatted from the small blind (holding pocket aces) and when the action reached [Removed:297] in the big, he three-bet to 140,000. Friedlander got out of their way and Jetten moved all in over the top for 765,000. Wenigwieser made the call for less (670,000) and the following showdown ensued:
Wenigwieser:
Jetten:
The board then filled out and Jetten's aces held up to send Wenigwieser to the rail in 13th place.
After the hand, Jetten stacked up 1.38 million in chips.
Fresh off his elimination of [Removed:297] in 13th place, Peter Jetten was back at it at a new table to try and pick up some more chips. Let's see how he did.
In a blind-versus-blind battle, Jetten fired the flop for 20,000 after it came . Kosmas Dratsas called. After the on the turn, Jetten barreled again, making it 55,000 to go. Dratsas called.
The river was the and Jetten fired 160,000. Dratsas folded and Jetten picked up the pot to move up to 1.55 million. Dratsas dropped to 1.35 million.
Over on the feature table, Stephen Shelly raised to 35,000 from under the gun preflop and Tyron Krost called from the button. The flop was then checked by both players after the fell.
The added another bullet to the board and both players checked again. The river was the and Shelly checked. Krost fired 50,000 and Shelly folded his hand.
