We're Back!

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

The players have returned from the dinner break and the cards are now back in the air!

Small Ball!

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

The first couple of hands have been relatively sedate since we've come back from the dinner break, but Simon Charette and Waki Waki have picked up some valuable chips nonetheless.

In the first hand, the action folded around to Kosta Varoxis who raised to 18,000 from the cutoff before Charette reraised to 41,000 from the button, forcing Varoxis to fold.

Then, in the very next hand, the action folded around to Waki Waki who limped in from the button. Ben Delaney completed the small blind, but Leo Boxell made it 33,000 to go from the big blind. Waki called and Delaney got out of the way before both Boxell and Waki checked down the flop and turn of {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}.

The dealer then produced the {J-Spades} on the river, Boxell checked, but he quickly sent his hand into the muck after Waki fired out a bet. Yay, poker!

Updated Chip Counts

The new counts are in and it appears that Simon Charette has edged out further in front of Waki Waki and Ben Delaney, while Leo Boxell is in the middle of the pack with Kosta Varoxis and Josh Tekesky bringing up the rear.

Varoxis is Chippin' Away

Kosta Varoxis is keen to add an Aussie Millions title to his CV!
Kosta Varoxis is keen to add an Aussie Millions title to his CV!

With the stack average at 48 big blinds, we're settling in for a long grind, but 2010 Aussie Millions fourth-place finisher Kosta Varoxis has been getting busy lately despite being one of the short stacks on the table.

The action folded around to Leo Boxell who raised to 18,000 from the button; Kosta Varoxis defended his big blind, but check-folded after Boxell fired out another 18,000 on the flop of {2-Hearts}{7-Spades}{9-Spades}.

Soon afterwards, Simon Charette raised to 18,500 from the button before Ben Delaney called from the big blind, only to check-fold after Charette fired out 22,500 on the flop of {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

A short time later, Kosta Varoxis accidentally posted the big blind from the under the gun position and Charette quickly pointed this out to the dealer. As Varoxis was the first to act, it counted as a "blind call", so Charette raised to 26,000. The action folded around to Varoxis who called, but he quickly folded after Charette fired another barrel worth 32,000 on the flop of {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

Where's the Heart?

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Simon Charette raised the button to 18,500 and got two callers in the form of Waki Waki and Ben Delaney out of the blinds.

On the flop of {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, Waki grabbed some chips as if he was going to bet, but instead started shuffling them before finally decided to check. Delaney and Charette were worried about being check-raised, so they opted to check behind.

The turn brought yet another heart in the {10-Hearts}, this time Waki Waki seemed happier to check, Delaney contemplated a bet, but also decided to check, and Charette followed the lead.

The river brought the {2-Hearts}, and for the third time, the action was checked around. "I don't have a heart," Delaney said.

"Neither do I," Charette replied. Waki slammed down {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} as if it were the nuts. "I have a ten though," Charette said and tabled {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and Delaney simply mucked.

Charette is our clear chip leader at the moment with more than 700,000.

Josh Tekesky Eliminated in 6th Place (AUD $20,250)

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Josh Tekesky - 6th Place
Josh Tekesky - 6th Place

Josh Tekesky started the day as the overall chipleader, but he's just been banished in sixth place, good for AUD $20,250.

Earlier, Tekesky raised to 16,500 from under the gun before Kosta Varoxis reraised to 40,000. The action folded back around to Tekesky, who moved all-in. Varoxis snap-called, tabling {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} and Tekesky looked sick as he revealed {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

The board ran out {A-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and after the chips were cut down, Varoxis was deemed the shorter of the two stacks, so he doubled through, leaving Tekesky with just 19,000 in chips which were shipped into the middle in the very next hand after a raise by Varoxis and a reraise all-in from Waki Waki.

Varoxis opened-folded {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}, but breathed a sigh of relief after Waki showed down {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}, which were miles ahead of Tekesky's {J-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. The board {8-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} and Tekesky was done for the day.

Waki is now up to 470,000 while Varoxis now holds 268,000.

No Backing Down

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

With the blinds creeping up even further, the action is beginning to pick up at this final table and with each pot played, we're starting to see the tension build up amongst the remaining five players.

Earlier, the action folded around to Leo Boxell who min-raised to 16,000 from the small blind before Kosta Varoxis called from the big blind to see a flop of {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs}. Boxell led out for 30,000 and Varoxis called, but he folded after Boxell fired out 60,000 on the turn of the {J-Spades}.

Boxell flashed {J-Clubs}{9-Hearts} before sending his hand into the muck. "Thanks for the show, Leo!" Varoxis exclaimed.

A short time later, Ben Delaney min-raised to 16,000 from the button and found one caller in the form of Simon Charette from the big blind. Charette then check-folded after Delaney's bet of 22,000 on the flop of {6-Clubs}{2-Spades}{A-Diamonds}.

Boxell is up to 410,000 and Delaney moves to 440,000 while Varoxis slips to 225,000. Charette is down too, but still our leader with 675,000.
