You Win Some, You Lose Some

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Simon Charette has been the most active at this final table over the last hour and while he's taken one pot off Waki Waki, he lost one soon after to Ben Delaney.

The action folded around to Charette who raised to 30,000 from the small blind; Waki called from the big blind, then both players checked the flop of {10-Clubs}{K-Spades}{A-Hearts} before Charette led out for 27,000 on the turn of the {3-Spades}. Waki wasn't interested and he let his hand go.

In the very next hand, Charette raised to 22,500 from the cutoff; Delaney was the only caller from the small blind, but both players elected to check the flop of {8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs} before Delaney check-called Charette's bet of 27,000 on the turn of the {9-Clubs}.

Both players then checked down the river of the {K-Diamonds} and Delaney showed {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} which was good enough to take the pot down. Delaney moves up to 405,000, Charette is holding steady at 740,000 and Waki is down to 442,000.

Delaney Drops

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Ben Delaney has slipped to less than 350,000 in chips after losing pots to Simon Charette, Kosta Varoxis and Leo Boxell.

Charette raised to 22,000 from under the gun and Delaney called from the button to go heads-up to a flop of {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}. Charette bet 32,500 and Delaney called before folding to Charette's second barrel of 55,500 on the turn of the {2-Diamonds}.

"I wish, I wish I had checked!" Charette lamented as he flashed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for what would have only been the nuts.

In the very next hand, Delaney raised to 20,000 from the button and Varoxis called from the big blind before both players checked all the way down the board of {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. Delaney showed {A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} but Varoxis' {j-Spades}{5-Diamonds} was good.

Then we caught action between Delaney and Leo Boxell on a flop that read {2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}; Delaney opened for 30,000 and Boxell called before both players checked the turn of the {10-Hearts}. Delaney checked on the river of the {A-Diamonds}, but folded after Boxell quickly fired out a bet.

Boxell is up over 470,000, while Varoxis climbs to 235,000.

Holy Smokes!

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Though the action between the final may be lukewarm, things got a little heated all of a sudden (and it was unpleasant, we might add, but we stress that it wasn't between the players).

Earlier, Waki Waki raised to 24,500 from under the gun and the action folded around to Kosta Varoxis who called from the small blind before the both checked the flop of {K-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{J-Clubs}. Varoxis then fired out 32,000 on the turn of the {3-Clubs} and Waki quickly folded.

A short time later, we saw Leo Boxell, Varoxis and Waki check down a flop of {Q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} before Boxell opened for 40,000 on the turn of the {8-Clubs}. Waki was the only caller and then Boxell check-folded after Waki bet on the river of the {9h).

The action was then interrupted for some time after a strong burning smell permeated the Crown Poker Room. The players all jumped out of their seats, thinking that something was on fire beneath them, but as it turned out, apparently there was a bin fire upstairs. Play was able to resume shortly after everyone had settled down.

What a Sick River!

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Ben Delaney did what he did best and opened from the cutoff with a raise. Leo Boxell made the call from the button, so it was heads-up to a flop of {10-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Delaney fired out a bet of 30,000 and Boxell made the call.

The turn brought the {6-Diamonds} and again Delaney took the lead with a bet of 70,000. Boxell didn't ponder the decision for long and again made the call. The {6-Hearts} fell on the river and Delaney decided to slow down, this time checking to Boxell.

Boxell slip out a full stack of yellow-chips totaling 100,000. Delaney frustratingly open mucked {A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for a counterfeited two pair as Leo Boxell raked in the pot. Boxell moved up to 660,000 in chips while Delaney now has the fewest chips with only 180,000.

Kosta Varoxis Eliminated in 5th Place (AUD $27,000)

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante
Kosta Varoxis - 5th Place
Kosta Varoxis - 5th Place

Leo Boxell has now become the new chip leader and the first past the one-million mark after eliminating Kosta Varoxis in fifth place.

The action folded around to Ben Delaney who raised to 24,000 from the button before Leo Boxell made it another 40,000 to go from the small blind. Varoxis shoved from the big blind and Delaney insta-mucked before Boxell snap-called.

Boxell: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Varoxis: {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

Nothing changed on the flop of {3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Varoxis was drawing dead by the time the {K-Hearts} fell on the turn to give Boxell the seat. The river {10-Spades} completed the board and Varoxis was left with nothing but a nice little paycheck worth AUD $27,000.

Yecch!

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

It was three-way action on a flop of {2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs} between Simon Charette, Waki Waki and Ben Delaney, Charette led out for 22,000 before Waki raised to 53,000, forcing Delaney out of the way before Charette called, only to check-fold after Waki opened for 60,000 on the turn of the {4-Clubs}.

Charette wasn't particularly happy about that hand, as he threw it away like he had touched something filthy. He was able to get those chips back through Leo Boxell though - after a heavy raising war preflop, Boxell checked to Charette on the flop of {9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, only to fold after Charette fired out 160,000.

Boxell Slips Chips to Waki

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Leo Boxell has taken a hit back to 715,000 in chips after losing a big pot to Waki Waki.

We caught the action on a flop that read {2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{K-Spades}; Waki led out for 44,000 and Boxell min-raised to 88,000 before Waki came back over the top, making it another 70,000 to go.

Boxell called, but quickly kicked his hand into the muck after Waki open-shoved on the turn of the {6-Spades}. Waki is now up to 535,000.
