Stead Values Morton

Level 1

Limit Holdem

David Morton opened to 200 only to have Kerry Stead three-bet next to act from the cutoff.

Morton made the call, and proceeded to check-call bets on each street as the board was revealed to read {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{4-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

"I can beat {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}!" stated Morton as he tossed in the last 200 on the river.

Stead tabled his {K-Spades}{Q-Spades} and Morton nodded in accordance before pushing his cards to the muck.

Full Tilt Poker Represent!

Level 1

Unlike the previous four tournaments where the Full Tilt Poker logo was plastered around the room thanks to the likes of James Akenhead, Annette Obrestad, Billy Argyros, Scott Montgomery, Steve Yea and Jonathan Karamalikis, today sees no Red Pro team member in the field.

However, Robert Williamson III and Mike Matusow have been spotted in the room near the buy-in and registration desk.

Unfortunately, Williamson is still loitering around while Matusow grabbed the PokerNews Australasia Magazine - Aussie Millions edition and headed out the door of the poker room in a rush.

Steicke Calls Floor, Loses Razz Hand

Level 1

Razz

Jamie Pickering was forced to bring-in as both opponents on his left made the call before Rainer Quel acted out of turn and called.

With David Steicke left to act, he called the floor to see what Quel's actions were depending on what Steicke chose to do.

"So if I raise, he gets his options back?"

The tournament director nodded in accordance as Steicke just tossed in two green 25-denomination chips making a call.

"Well he gets no options now!" jokingly added Steicke.

Steicke: (X)(X) / {5-}{2-}{7-}{10-} (folded on sixth)
Quel: (X)(X) / {3-}{K-} (folded on fourth)
Pickering: (X)(X) / {K-}{2-}{2-} (folded on fifth)
Opponent (X)(X) / {3-}{5-}{J-}{4-} / (X)
Opponent (X)(X) / {6-}{4-}{5-}{8-} / (X)

Steicke led the betting on fourth and fifth street before folding on sixth as the first opponent in the hand took the lead.

No showdown was had however as the second player check-folded seventh while Steicke may be regretting his decision to play the hand that sees him slip to 5,300 in chips.

Out of Retirement for Matusow

Level 2

"They got me out of the house to play poker!" stated Mike Matusow from the rail in the direction of Mel Judah.

"Oh hi Mike!" added Judah as Matusow slowly made his way towards the buy-in desk.

"Retirement wasn't fun anyway!" Matusow continued.

For the record, Matusow still hasn't taken a seat in today's tournament, and as this PokerNews blogger takes a look around the room, can't spot the three-time WSOP bracelet holder.

Split Kings No Good?

Level 2

Seven Card Stud

David Zhao brought-in and Gary Benson made the call before Trung Tran completed and Tim Marsters three-bet to 300.

Zhao and Benson folded before Tran made the call and then led for 150 on fourth street into Marsters.

Tran: (X)(X) / {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Marsters (X)(X) / {K-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

"Allright!" stated a seemingly upset Marsters as he open-folded one of his down cards - the {K-Diamonds} - while slipping to 9,100.

For Tran, the small pot sees him move to 9,300 in chips.

Queens-Up for Gupta

Level 2

Seven Card Stud

Catching the action on fifth street, we found Ash Gupta taking the lead by firing out a 300-chip bet after his opponent John Caridad checked. Caridad called, and then proceeded to check-call bets on sixth and seventh street.

Caridad: (X)(X) / {9-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} / (X)
Gupta: (X)(X) / {6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{Q-Spades}{7-Spades} (X)

Gupta tabled his {Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} / {2-Diamonds} for two-pair to collect the pot and move to 16,900 as Caridad folded and slipped to 6,500 in chips.

Boxell Can't Find One Outer

Level 2
Leo Boxell
Leo Boxell

Seven Card Stud

"I was pretty happy to get that ace!" stated Leo Boxell as one the unknown opponent bet out on fifth street with Kerry Stead calling.

"My brain says get 'outta here, while my other brain says you're an idiot!" Boxell continued before making the call.

Stead would pass on sixth street before Boxell announced, "I got one out!"

"I know what he's got!" laughed David Morton as seventh street was dealt.

Stead: (X)(X) / {6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{2-Clubs} (folded on sixth)
Boxell: (X)(X) / {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} / (X)
Opponent: (X)(X) / {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{4-Clubs} / (X)

With the action on Boxell's opponent, he moved all in.

"How much is that?" asked Boxell as the dealer began cutting down the chips before realizing that the bet had to be only 300.

Boxell shook his head from left to right several times as he sweated seventh street only to reveal his {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades} / {6-Hearts} while folding.

His opponent showed his {J-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} / {J-Clubs} for a semi-obvious aces-full, and the pot.

Zheng Fires Turn

Level 2

No Limit Holdem

David Gorr limped in for 200 with Jackson Zheng checking his option from the big blind.

Both players tapped the table when the {K-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop fell before the {4-Spades} on the turn was greeted with a 850-chip bet from Zheng.

"You're likely to have one of those!" stated Gorr as he mucked.

Zheng happily collected the pot to move to 13,700 in chips.
