Event #6: No-Limit Hold'em - 6-Handed

Day 2 Started

A Dozen Stacks Back for the Six-Max!

373 players took to the felt yesterday for the 2011 Aussie Millions $1,100 No Limit Hold'em 6-Handed event. Now, only 12 remain and soon, one will be wearing the Event #6 championship gold ring!

There was shortly no shortage of star power yesterday, with prominent Aussies Tony Hachem, Eric Assadourian, Grant Levy, Mel Judah and 2009 Aussie Millions Main Event champion Stewart Scott all taking their shot at the title, alongside internationals such as New Zealand WSOP bracelet winner Simon "durrrrkiller" Watt and Canadian Scott Montgomery.

All these players were amongst the early casualty list, but England's Neil Channing was amongst those to have made the money, as well as 2010 Aussie Millions 6-Handed Champion Kristian Lunardi and James "Welcome Back" Potter, who has made a welcome return to the Crown Poker Room this year.

Of course, it's all about the dozen players who are about to take their seats in this event, with Tim O'Shea leading the charge with 857,000 in chips. However, he'll have some stiff competition in the form of Aussie online phenoms Daniel Neilson and Andrew Hinrichsen, as well fellow Aussies Nino Marotta, Milan Gurung and Michael "Sticky" Guttman.

Nicholas Owens

Nicholas Owens has just been eliminated by Daniel Neilson in 12th place after finding himself at the wrong end of a cooler against Gautam Dhringa.

We caught the action between Owens and Dhringa in a rather sizeable pot on a flop that read {3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}; Owens led out for 70,000 and Dhringa deliberated for some time before announcing that he was all-in for another 256,000.

Owens went into the tank for almost two minutes before making the call, showing down {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} but was crushed by Dhringa's {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}. The turn and river blanked out {4-Spades}, {3-Diamonds}, leaving Owens with just 140,000 in chips, which he moved into the middle before the flop in the very next hand with {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}.

Neilson called, tabling {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. Owens couldn't find a jack (again) on the board of {9-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and was resigned to head over to the cage to collect his AUD$6,715 payday. Dhringa is up to 775,000 while Neilson is on more than 340,000.

Milan Gurung

Milan Gurung has just been felled at the hands of Tim O'Shea, who is now the outright chip leader with 1.086 million!

Gurung raised to 30,000 from under the gun and the action folded around to O'Shea who reraised to 80,000. Gurung shoved and O'Shea snap-called.

O'Shea: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Gurung: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

Board: {8-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts}

Gurung picks up AUD$6,715 for his 11th place finish. Down to 10 players already - BAM!

A Couple of Double Ups

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Jackson Zheng and Michael Accardo have both managed to score some crucial double-ups as the action continues here on the last two tables.

Accardo and Daniel Neilson got all their money into the middle preflop; Accardo was flipping for his tournament life with {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} against Neilson's {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}, but doubled up to around 220,000 after he filled up on the board of {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{A-Spades}.

Earlier, our field reporter witnessed Zheng and Andrew Hinrichsen in action on a board of {10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. Zheng pushed all-in, forcing Tim O'Shea out f the way before Hinrichsen called, tabling {K-}{Q-} against Zheng's {10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. We assume that Hinrichsen was looking for a flush, but the river was the {6-Hearts} and Zheng moved up to more than 210,000.

Hendriks Doubles Through Blanchette

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Kelsey Hendriks is still alive, doubling up to more than 230,000 in chips, courtesy of Levi Blanchette.

Hendriks raised to 22,000 from early position and the action folded to Blanchette on the button who reraised to 42,000. Hendriks snap-shoved and Blanchette insta-called, revealing {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} but was in a bad way against Hendriks' {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}.

Neither hand improved on the board of {4-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Spades}{Q-Hearts} - BAM!

Adios Accardo

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Michael Accardo
Michael Accardo

Michael Accardo was almost eliminated by Jackson Zheng, but he managed to chop the pot to say alive. However, Accardo wasn't so lucky against Tim O'Shea and has now been sent to the rail in 10th place.

Accardo limped in from under the gun and both O'Shea and Andrew Hinrichsen checked from the small and big blinds respectively before the dealer produced the flop of {9-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{7-Clubs}. O'Shea and Hinrichsen checked, Accardo shoved for 122,000, Hinrichsen folded and O'Shea called, showing {J-Clubs}{9-Spades} against Accardo's {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}.

The turn and river blanked out {2-Diamonds}, {10-Diamonds} and Accardo is now AUD$6,715 richer while O'Shea is now up to 1.221 million in chips!
