Rubie vs. Angood

Action folded to Brendon Rubie in the cutoff and he opened for 48,000, which Rob Angood three-bet to 118,000 from the small blind. The big blind got out of the way while Rubie made the call, bringing about a flop of {8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}.

Angood wasted little time in betting 137,000, Rubie called, and teh {3-Spades} appeared on the turn. It went check-check to the {6-Clubs} river, which saw Angood bet out a modest 68,000. It was enough as Rubie laid down his hand.

Rubie Leaves Naz For Dead

The largest pot of the day just played out here on the final table of the 2012 Aussie Millions Opening Event. The action started when Brendon Rubie opened the pot to 48,000 from under the gun. Scott Wilson made the call, along with Naz Sibaei and Tam Troung in the blinds.

Flop: {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{9-Spades}

The action was checked to Rubie and he led for 110,00. Wilson got out of the way and this is when Sibaei made the check raise - 150,000 more to go. Troung got out of the way and Rubie made the call as the {2-Hearts} was dealt on the turn. Sibaei again opted to check and Rubie continued his aggression, sliding out 220,000. Sibaei went for the check-raise again, this time shoving his stack all in. Rubie instantly announced the call.

As soon as Rubie made the call he tabled his {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} and Sibaei sighed and said, "you got me," as he turned over his {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}.

Sibaei was not wrong, Rubie had him. . The {10-Diamonds} on the river changed nothing and once the stacks were counted out, Sibaei was left with just 60,000.

Naz Sibaei Eliminated in 8th Place ($19,000 AUD)

Sibaei barely had a leg to stand on after losing a huge portion of his stack to Brendon Rubie. In that hand Sibaei tried to get tricky and ran into a set. Sibaei didn't have a chance to get tricky on his elimination, having only a couple of big blinds.

Sibaei moved all in from early position holding {q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and both Manny Stavropoulos and Scott Wilson made the call as a {q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop was dealt. Sibaei watched on as Stavropoulos made a bet and got Wilson out of the hand.

Stavropoulos: {a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}
Sibaei: {q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}

Sibaei was in need of a miracle, but it wasn't meant to be as a {7-Hearts} sent Sibaei sent to the rail in 8th place.

Big Stacks Battle

Brendon Rubie opened for 61,000 from the button and was met with a three-bet to 200,000 by Scott Wilson in the big blind. Not to be outdone, Rubie four-bet 190,000 more and Wilson called, leading to the {2-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{A-Spades} flop.

At this point, Wilson slid out a stack of chocolate T25,000 chips for a bet of about 450,000. Rubie thought for about 40 seconds, intently staring down his opponent, before laying down his hand. Without missing a beat, Wilson flipped over {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for complete air, showing that he has some moves of his own.

Rubie Take From Truong

Tam Truong opened from middle position and found a called in Brendon Rubie in the hijack. The rest of the players got out of the way and it was heads up to the {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop, which went check-check.

The dealer then burned and turned the {2-Hearts}, which saw Rubie call a bet of 100,000 from Truong. When the {9-Diamonds} appeared on the river, Truong checked and Rubie moved all in, putting the pressure on Day 1a chip leader. Truong gave it a few moment's thought but eventually laid down his hand.
