Mercier Runs into Trips
After two limpers Jason Mercier decided to raise to 650 and both his opponent called. The flop came down 
and the action got checked to Mercier. He bet 375 and the first limper folded. The second limper counted out some chips and made it 1,250 and Mercier made the call.
On the turn the 
hit and Mercier was forced to call 2,000 in order to see the river. The river was the 
and both players decided to check. Mercier's opponent showed 
and after double checking his cards the EPT and WSOP winner decided to fold. Mercier is still off to a good start and up to around 42,000 chips.

During the break, we passed Mike Sowers on the escalator as we were going up and he was coming down. A 4-second conversation ensued.
"Hey, how are you?," he started.
"Hey, Mike. Good, thanks. Got chips?"
"Nah.. got information, though," he smiled broadly.
"Good luck in there."
Sowers is part of that murderers' row that includes he, Angel Guillen, and Roberto Romanello, and information is the next-best thing to having chips for now.
Trickett and the Dealer

Sam Trickett is still having a bit of trouble with the short-armed dealer up on Table 42. In the last hand, Trickett folded to a flop bet, and he didn't get his cards adequately angled toward the muck.
"Just a little further next time if you can," the dealer instructed. Trickett was finding the humor (ahem, humour) by now, and he just shook his head and smiled as he grabbed his cards and dropped them a couple inches farther forward.
"How long you here for?" he asked, still in the midst of a rough massage.
"All day," the dealer answered back.
"No, I mean at this table," Trickett corrected.
"Just a couple more minutes. Is it that much of a problem?"
Tricket was still chuckling, half upset and half entertained from the looks of it. "No, it's just that I haven't won a hand since you got here. Bad vibes."
A new dealer was pushing in just as we stepped away from the table.
On to the Next One
When we arrived at the table, Phil Ivey was pitted in a hand against two other players and the first to act on the 
flop. Ivey checked, as did the second player. The third player slid out a bet of 1,100 and Ivey called. The other player folded.
The turn card was the 
and paired the board. Ivey checked and his opponent reached for chips right away. The player tossed out a yellow T5,000 chip and announced a bet of 2,500. Ivey made the call.
The river card completed the board with the 
and Ivey checked again. His opponent didn't slow down and fired 7,000. Ivey grabbed the chips to make the call, thought about things for a few seconds and then tossed them in. His opponent then tabled the 
for a rivered gutshot straight and Ivey mucked his hand.
As the pot was being pushed to the player, Ivey turned towards PokerNews' reporter and said, "There's my lucky reporter," with a wry smile across his face.

On a 
flop we saw a 3,600 in front of a player that was pondering about a huge call. Nacho Barbero had moved all-in on him for something like 26,000 chips. Barbero's opponent tanked for several minutes and the Argentinian pro sta motionless as he awaited the decision. Finally he turned over 
and threw his cards towards the muck.
Barbero showed a wry smile as he started stacking his chips, he is up to 35,000 chips.
Good Start for Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu is playing the Aussie Millions Main Event for the first time in a couple of years and his start has been very good. The Canadian, who recently took fifth in the PCA $100,000 Super High Roller, is up to 44,000 and his table looks good. "It's a juicy table", Negreanu said about his opponents and he's looking to have a good first day.

The Main Event is up to 655 Registered Players

We just got word from the tournament staff that there are 315 players registered for todays day one flight. Add those up to the 340 we had on the first two days, and that gives us 655 total players. Registration will remain open all throughout today and the first level tomorrow. We heard that Tony G will register tomorrow, he will start his Aussie Millions with just 30 big blinds instead of the 300 all the players started with today.
All Over Ivey
Phil Ivey is the talk of the town, and everyone seems to keep an eye out for him. We just had a member of the Crown Poker Room staff walk over with some interesting news regarding the 8-time WSOP Bracelet winner.
On the turn Ivey hit a straight and got his opponent to put all his money in with two pair, aces and sixes. The pot was approximately 60,000 chips and the river was a blank. Ivey is already over three times the starting stack, he has the chip lead by a mile.
