More Pressure From Li

Bjorn Li
Bjorn Li

Bjorn Li has one gear, and that's the fifth one! We missed the pre flop action in a blind battle between Li and Idema, but the flop read {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} when we walked up to the table. Li bet 28,000 from the small blind and Idema made the call.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and Li fired out 83,000, getting Idema to rise up in his chair and look at his opponent. After a while Idema smoothly threw in the call.

On the river the {9-Diamonds} hit and Li grabbed a handful of 25,000 chips. He moved his hand into the pot and cut out a 200,000 bet after which he pulled back the rest of the chips. The dealer immediately ruled it was a string bet since Li cut down the stack and pulled chips back. Idema was on Li's side and said that the bet was valid, but the dealer disagreed. When the floor came over to make a ruling he let the bet Li made stand. "You happy with that?", Idema smiled trying to get some sort of a reaction for his opponent. Li gave nothing away and Idema opted to lay this one down.

Louie Srour Eliminated in 23rd Place (A$45,000)

Louie Srour - 23rd place
Louie Srour - 23rd place

Phil Ivey opened the button and Oliver Speidel three-bet to 95,000 out of the small blind. Louie Srour then shoved his stack all in from the big blind. Ivey got out of the way and Speidel very quickly made the call.

Speidel: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Srour: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

The {6-Spades}{j-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{q-Clubs} board gave both Speidel and Srour a piece of the action, but Speidel's hand was strong enough to send Srour home in 23rd place.

O'Shea Can't Bluff His Way Out of This One

Tim O'Shea
Tim O'Shea

From the cutoff seat, Tim O'Shea raised to 22,000. Patrick Healy called from the button and then Phil Ivey three-bet to 100,000 from the small blind. After Oliver Speidel folded the big blind, O'Shea and Healy both called.

The flop came down {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades} and action checked around to see the {3-Spades} land on the turn. Ivey and O'Shea checked before Healy bet 51,000. Ivey called and O'Shea called.

The river card was the {6-Hearts} and completed the board. After Ivey checked, O'Sea bet 130,000. Healy called and Ivey folded.

O'Shea mucked after Healy tabled the {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for tens and sixes to drop back to 320,000 in chips. Healy moved to around 1.7 million.

Bjorn To Win Chips

Ming Nugyen opened the action to 22,000 from the cutoff and Bjorn Li made the call out of the big blind. The {k-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop saw Li check and Nguyen bet 33,000. Li then threw in the check-raise, making it 77,000. Nguyen made the call and a {10-Diamonds} was dealt on the turn. This time Li led, cutting out a bet of 135,000. Nguyen again made the call and this time the {7-Clubs} completed the board.

On the river, Li slid out two large stacks of 25,000-denomination chips and Nguyen went deep into the tank. The amount was more than enough to cover Nguyen and he eventually opted to fold.

At this point Li showed a {q-Hearts}. "I had jack-queen of hearts obviously," said Li as he stacked his new chips.

Lesinskis Wins Huge One Pre Flop

Matt Turk raised to 24,000 under the gun and Janis Lesinskis made the call from the cut-off. From the small blind Elton Tsang decided to three-bet to 88,000 and Turk made the call. This seemed like a perfect spot for Lesinskis who shoved for an additional 489,000. Both his opponents folded giving Lesinskis a huge pot without even seeing a flop.

The very next hand on table 32, where Lesinskis had just won a big pot, was for Mohamed Kowssarie. Kowssarie raised to 24,000 from the cut-off and Elton Tsang decided to three-bet to 64,000 from the button. Kowssarie made the call.

The flop was {4-Spades}{7-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and Kowssarie checked to Tsang who bet 55,000. Kowssarie wasted no time and raised to 245,000 with around 600,000 left behind. Tsang mucked his cards and lost another serious pot.
