Sticking to the Plan

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Before the start of Day 2, Chance Kornuth was planning to three-bet shove often or raise with the short stack to steal the blinds. That plan has worked out thus far and the American poker pro has increased his stack without any showdown. One table over, Sergio Aido just won a pot as well to move up slightly.

Chance Kornuth made it 21,000 under the gun and [Removed:17] raised the button to 50,000.

It came back to Kornuth and he jammed for 260,000 total.

Yan got the count and made the call with the {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Kornuth was flipping for his tournament life with the {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds} and got there on the river when the board ran out {10-Clubs}{2-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}.

Sapitavicius Slipping

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Arunas Sapitavicius
Arunas Sapitavicius

Arunas Sapitavicius lost a medium-sized pot on the board {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs} after the turn brought a bet of 48,000 and a call by Tang Peng. The duo checked the river and Sapitavicius' {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts} ended up second-best to the {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts} of Peng.

Then, the Lithuanian raised to 24,000 and Sergio Aido called in the big blind. On the flop {3-Spades}{6-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}, Aido check-called a bet of 23,000 and they checked the {4-Spades} on the turn. Aido check-called the {A-Hearts} river for 40,000 and Sapitavicius sheepishly turned over {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} for king-high, Aido took down the pot with {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}.

Kornuth Gets Paid off

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

"I am trying to bluff you off the same hand," Chance Kornuth said on the river of a board {2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. The American had bet 60,000 and Francesco Sergi eventually called off to muck when Kornuth flipped over the {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}. Sergi will be under immediate pressure now with just over 10 big blinds.

Malecha vs Kornuth

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Chance Kornuth raised from under the gun and called the three-bet of Mark Malecha in the small blind to create a pot of around 150,000 chips to the flop {Q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. Malecha fired 75,000 for half the pot and Kornuth carefully cut out a raise to 163,000 in order enforce a quick fold.

Peng's Pressure Works

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Sergio Aido lost a pot to table neighbor Derek Wolters when both players checked down the river {9-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{5-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, Wolters showed {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for a full house. Then, Arunas Sapitavicius min-raisd to 24,000 and Aido defended his big blind to check-fold the flop {8-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}.

Two hands later, Wolters limped in from the small blind and Tang Peng squeezed to 30,000. Wolters called and check-called a continuation bet on the flop {K-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. On the {A-Clubs} turn, Wolters faced a bet of 100,000 by Peng and that resulted in a fold of the American.

Aido Out; Wolters Leads

Sergio Aido

Sergio Aido checked to Derek Wolters on a {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} flop. Wolters led for 45,000 and Aido called.

Both players checked the {10-Clubs} turn, and when the river came the {9-Diamonds}, Aido checked again. Wolters led out for 100,000 and Aido shoved for 298,000 more.

Wolters tanked for a minute before announcing a call. Aido stood up as he turned over the {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, figuring it could not be good. It wasn't. Wolters showed the {q-Spades}{j-Hearts} straight and took the chip lead as Aido hit the rail.

Yan is Taking a Chance

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Just a few minutes ago, Chance Kornuth had raised and then four-bet to 177,000 against David "MissOracle" Yan and the New Zealander had folded. The two would clash again with Yan raising to 30,000 and Kornuth calling in the big blind. On the flop {Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, Kornuth check-raised from 40,000 to 117,000 and Yan called.

The {9-Hearts} turn now saw Kornuth check-call a bet of 135,000 before Yan emptied the clip with an all in for 246,000 on the {10-Diamonds} river once his opponent had checked to him.

"Looks like you got me," Kornuth said and pondered about his decision for a while. Ultimately, the American folded and Yan raked in the big pot.
