The Erik Seidel Effect

Seidel's Lucky Penguin
Seidel's Lucky Penguin
Without a doubt, the most successful player at this year's Aussie Millions final table is Erik Seidel. The Las Vegas native has earned over $7.1 million in tournament winnings. Seidel is currently ranked 13th on the "All Time Money List." He won 8 World Series of Poker bracelets including one at the 2007 WSOP in the 2-7 Draw Lowball event.

On Day 1a, Seidel brought out his lucky stuffed penguin, which he picked up at the Penguin Parade down at Philip Island. It must have worked, because Seidel advanced to the final table.

However, at the final table Seidel has brought a small stuffed wombat which he hopes will provide the extra luck that he'll need to chase down chipleader Michael Chrisanthopoulos.

Peter Ling has the button in Seat 7. Alexander Kostritsyn raises to 80,000 from the small blind and Peter Mobbs calls from the big blind. The flop is {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Kostritsyn bets 60,000, Mobbs folds, and Kostritsyn wins the pot.

Hand #4 - Antonio Casale

Alexander Kostritsyn has the button in Seat 1. Kostritsyn raises to 75,000 and Antonio Casale calls from the big blind. The flop is {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and both players check. Michael Chrisanthopoulos started the final table as the chipleader. The former car salesman is currently earning a living as a poker pro. He considers Joe Hachem as his idol. Chrisanthopoulos' biggest cash to date was a 30th place finish for $7,190 during the PokerNews Cup (held at the Crown Casino in Melbourne back in October). He qualified for the Aussie Millions via a $120 satellite down in the poker room.
