Down to 2 Tables

With 18 players now left in the field, the players are currently re-drawing for new seating allocations as we head into the final two tables of today's event.

Jani Vilmunen Eliminated

Mark Kassis held 7-7-3-4 against Jani Vilmunen's Q-9-7-8 with the money all in and the board showing {Q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades}. In a huge 60,000 chip pot, Kassis yells "One time!" as the {J-Clubs} is dealt on the river, and Kassis's set of sevens is good to take down the pot, eliminating Vilmunen in 18th place.

Stort stacks Tino Lechich and Lee Watkinson have just collided in a "make or break" hand out on table 32:

Lechich: {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Watkinson: {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{A-Clubs}

The board ran out {4-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. Lechich picked up flush outs on the flop but Watkinson made a full house on the river to eliminate Lechich.

Sexton Eliminates Two; Soars to 125,000!

Mike Sexton just took down the biggest pot of the tournament, eliminating both Richard Ashby and Warwick Mirzikinian from the tournament in the same hand.

The hand began with a 6,900 pre-flop raise made by Ashby, which was called by both Mirzikinian and Sexton.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Sexton, first to act, bet the pot, putting both Ashby and Mirzikinian all in. Ashby made the call first and Mirzikinian followed suit:

Sexton: {7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Ashby: {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{A-Spades}
Mirzikinian: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}

The {6-Spades} that fell on the turn was a beautiful card for Sexton as it gave him a ten-high straight, killing Ashby's chances to win the pot and lessening Mirzikinian's outs to one of the three remaining tens in the deck. Sexton locked up the hand when the {8-Diamonds} came on the river, stacking both Ashby and Mirzikinian, while increasing his own net worth to just over 125,000 in chips.

Sexton is now the clear chip leader and currently the only player in the tournament with over 100,000 in chips.

Graeme "Kiwi G" Putt Eliminated

Graeme "Kiwi G" Putt shoved all in before the flop with his short stack and Tom Dwan made the call.

Putt: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Dwan: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and Putt had flopped a set to aces as well as the jack-high flush draw. However Dwan still had outs with the king-high flush draw and was praying for another diamond. The turn delivered with the {2-Diamonds} giving Dwan the flush to reclaim the lead. Putt had a redraw to a full house and was looking for the board to pair, but the blank {7-Clubs} on the river sent him to the rail.

Pickering Eliminates Two!

On the flop of {7-Clubs}{5-Spades}{A-Clubs} Mark Goodwin pushes the last of his chips into the middle and both Fred Bart and Jamie Pickering make the call.

The turn is {3-Hearts} and Bart also commits the rest of his chips with Pickering making the call.

Bart: {10-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Goodwin: {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}
Pickering: {5-Clubs}{J-Spades}{K-Clubs}{A-Spades}

Bart and Goodwin share the lead with a straight, but they have to dodge a lot of cards on the river to survive. The river is the {Q-Clubs} and Pickering makes the nut flush to eliminate both players and take down a huge pot!

10 Players Remain

Table 31:

Seat 1: Mike Sexton
Seat 5: Mark Kassis
Seat 6: Peter Peeters
Seat 7: Tom "Durrrr" Dwan
Seat 8: Lenny Barshack

Table 32:

Seat 1: Jamie Pickering
Seat 3: Max Pescatori
Seat 4: Van Marcus
Seat 5: Lee Watkinson
Seat 9: Michael "Sticky" Guttman

With 10 players remaining in the tournament, we've reached both the money and final table bubbles. Tournament director Danny McDonagh tells us that the dinner break will begin when we either lose one more player, or when we reach the end of the current blind level - whichever comes first.

Final Table Set; Peter Peeters Bubbles

Peter Peeters Eliminated on Bubble
Peter Peeters Eliminated on Bubble
On a flop of {9-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts} Peter Peeters checked the action to Lenny Barshack who fired out a 4,500 bet. Peeters made the call and the turn is the {10-Diamonds}. Peeters leads for 8,000 and Barshack pushes all in and covers Peeters. Peeters thinks for a moment before making the call and the cards are flipped:

Peeters: {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}
Barshack: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}

Peeters is in great shape with top two pair as Barshack is drawing slim. However one of his outs is the {K-Hearts} which lands on the river to eliminate Peeters in dramatic fashion.

With this elimination our star-studded final table is now set. The players will now be taking 40-minute dinner break and we'll have the updated chips counts for you shortly.
