Misterek Gets Two from Brinkley

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Scott Misterek
Scott Misterek

Hand #1: There was over 2,000 in the middle with three-handed action on a flop of {j-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. The small blind checked to Andrew Brinkley in the big blind, who bet 1,500 and received a call from Scott Misterek in the cutoff. The small blind folded.

Action was then heads up to the turn {10-Hearts} and Brinkley checked. Misterek bet 2,500 and Brinkley quickly called, bringing the river {a-Hearts}. Brinkley checked and Misterek checked behind, taking the hand to showdown.

Brinkley showed {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and Misterek tabled {8-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for a turned straight, hitting his double gutshot to earn him the pot.

Hand #2: A couple of hands later, the two were involved in another raised pot on a board reading {2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. Misterek bet 2,000 in the hijack and Brinkley called on the button, bringing the river {a-Hearts}. Misterek bet another 2,500 and Brinkley called once more.

Misterek showed {2-Spades}{2-Hearts} for a flopped set of deuces and Brinkley threw his second-best {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} onto the felt face up for the table to see his second big pair go down in short succession.

Holladay Off to a Fast Start

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Dustin Holladay
Dustin Holladay

January's 2021 Winter Open Main Event Day 1a chip leader and 10th-place finisher Dustin Holladay is off to a fast start once more on Day 1a of the Spring Series Main Event. He just touched base, saying he's chipped up to 46,000.

One hand he shared came from the end of Level 1, where he said he limped on the button and called a raise to 300 from the big blind. Holladay called barrels of 600 on the flop {j-}{6-}{3-} and 800 on the turn {2-}. The big blind fired a third time on the river {8-}, betting 1,200 before Holladay raised to 4,000 and was called.

Holladay showed {8-}{6-} for a rivered two pair, cracking his opponent's {a-}{a-} that he showed in response.

Armando Figueroa Wins Event #2: $360 PLO for $9,339

The second event of the 2021 bestbet Jacksonville Spring Series was of the four-card poker variety. Event #2: $360 Pot-Limit Omaha attracted a field of 112 entries and created a prize pool of $34,160.

The top 14 players got paid, and all six who cashed but fell short of the final table were from out of state. Floridians then accounted for half of the final eight, but two of them in Fakhouri Jamil and Hyndi Khomutetsky were the first two to fall once the final table was reached.

A trio of South Carolinians in Andreas Wolfram, James Stuart, and James Hucks all busted thereafter, halving the field before Robert Satterfield went out in third. The two remaining Floridians in Jacksonville's Tammer Ilcaffas and Armando Figueroa of Lutz then played heads up for the top prize of $9,339 with Figueroa being the one to claim victory.

Salvaggi Gets a Warm Welcome

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

"Bet; raise all in; call," was overheard from the dealer as stacks had gotten in on a flop of {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs}. The cutoff had less than a starting stack and found herself in bad shape against Joe Salvaggi, who had just sat down and was being dealt his first hand of the day in the big blind.

All-In Player: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Joe Salvaggi: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

No help came as the turn {3-Hearts} and river {7-Clubs} completed the runout and Salvaggi scored a knockout with pocket aces on the first hand of his tournament.

Big Slick Does the Trick for Arbaugh

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

A preflop raising war saw a player with 6,500 in front of them from under the gun with action on Brian Arbaugh, who was on the button and in the process of pushing his stack forward along the felt. His shove of 18,100 was not enough to make his opponent fold.

Brian Arbaugh: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Under the Gun: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

Both players hit top pair on the flop {2-Spades}{k-Hearts}{6-Spades} and the two spades took away one of the three cards Arbaugh needed to fade in addition. Two bricks ensued on the turn {8-Clubs} and river {10-Clubs} and Arbaugh scored the easy double.

Harmon's First Bullet a Blank

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Wayne Harmon
Wayne Harmon

A player in middle position opened to 800 and was called by the cutoff. Wayne Harmon was in the big blind and announced he was all in, putting forward a 5K-chip and a few others to go with it. Middle position called and the cutoff got out of their way.

Wayne Harmon: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Middle Position: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}

Harmon saw his stack almost halved during the first level of play, losing two pots with big pocket pairs in the process, and his luck officially ran dry for bullet number one as the board ran out {3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts}. On his way away from the table afterwards, he commented on his table draw, saying "it was a bad seat. I'll be back."

"Big Blind Special" for Fultz

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Over 12,000 was already in the middle on a completed board of {9-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and Bobby Fultz had a bet of 6,000 in front of him from the big blind. Action was on his opponent in the hijack, who thought for about half a minute before finding a call.

"Full house, sixes full of nines," said the dealer in response to Fultz turning over {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. His opponent mucked, giving him kudos on a nice hand along the way.

"Big blind special," added Fultz as he collected the pot.
