Welcome to Day 1a of Event #1: $560 NLH in the 2022 Winter Open at bestbet Jacksonville. Cards go in the air at 12 p.m. EST for the first of three flights in the opening event of the series. The three opening flights will combine into a Day 2 finale on Sunday, January 30 with a livestream available on bestbetLIVE.

The opening event is the first in an 11-tournament series that will culminate in a $2,000 Main Event with two opening flights February 4-5. The 2021 Winter Open drew 510 runners to a Main Event that saw Scott Stewart of Lakewood, California take home the $177,817 top prize.

Players will start in 20,000 in chips and levels are 30 minutes long. The tournament will play eight-handed and registration will remain open until the beginning of Level 10 each day, and unlimited registration is available until that point.

The three opening flights will play until approximately 12.5% of the field remains. Players may re-enter on Day 1b and Day 1c even if they were not eliminated on a previous starting day. A player’s highest chip stack will advance and the others will be removed from play.

Day 1a Action

Jean Tenhulzen took an early pot from Casey Jarzabek enroute to finding a bag at the end of the day. Tenhulzen finished the day strong and will return for Day 2 with 126,000.

Enrico “Rich” DiFranco built one of the early big stacks and made plenty of noise throughout the day, including a big call to knock Mark Manesh out of the tournament and move above 300,000 chips. DiFranco will return for Day 2 just behind the chip leader with 332,000. Elsewhere, Steve Zhang chipped up late and sits near the top of the leaderboard after he brought the evening to an end with a double knockout when he caught an ace on the river to crack kings.
