Grinding away in the corner of the Signature Room here at Borgata is Ravi Raghaven. He recently picked up a small pot when he opened to 2,100 and called a 6,000 raise from the player on the button.
The flop came and Raghaven check-called a 3,500 bet. The two players checked the turn and river and Raghaven took it down with .
Raghaven is one of the more successful players in the field with nearly $2.7 million in lifetime tournament winnings including winning the World Poker Tour Five Diamond Poker Classic in 2012.
Players are on a 15-minute break. Smokers are rushing out of the room to light one up while others might be grabbing a quick snack or drink. They'll be playing for close to four more hours when they come back as we are playing down to 18 players or 2 am, whichever comes last.
Taurean Davis was all in and at risk preflop holding , and was in a race against "Action" Bob Hwang's .
There was an ace on the flop, giving Hwang the lead, and the turn and river bricked , respectively. Davis exited the tournament, while Hwang is up to 130,000 chips.
Earlier we talked about Ravi Raghaven and his financial prowess in poker tournaments. One player who has earned more that is taking part in the action here today is Matt Giannetti who has $4.365 million in lifetime tournament earnings.
A good chunk of that came when Giannetti made the November Nine of the World Series of Poker Main Event back in 2011 for slightly over three million dollars but he's proven he is no one hit wonder as he recently won the World Poker Tour Lucky Hearts Poker Open in February for $298,304.
Giannetti recently picked up a nice sized pot when he bet 6,700 on the flop and called his opponent's 18,500 raise. The two checked the turn and Giannetti led out for 9,000 when the river came . His opponent mucked to give Giannetti the pot, moving his stack to approximately 80,000.
We didn't see the hand but Dan Wach has been eliminated at the hands of Sean Wallace who earlier took the majority of Wach's chips when his Aces were able to fade Wach's flush and straight draws.
