Papas Fritas

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Papa Levy
Papa Levy

Papa Levy has made his presence known throughout the Borgata Spring Poker Open, with his signature cry of "Send it to Papa!" ringing throughout the room during a runner-up finish in the Seniors event.

After clashing with Miguel Borrero in a recent hand, Papa was sent to the rail. The two had previously engaged in bit of verbal jousting at the table directly in front of the PokerNews Live Reporting desk, with the brash Borrero giving it right back to the notoriously loud Levy.

Borrero opened to 13,500 from early position and the action folded around to Levy. With just 55,000 so to work with, Levy three-bet shoved and stood up to sweat the result.

Borerro quickly called with {a-Clubs}{k-Spades} to find himself in a dominant position over Levy's {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}. Levy was not worried though, and he told Borrero "It's OK, a queen is coming."

"Your last hand is coming," retorted Borrero. "King!"

The final board came down {a-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{k-Clubs} and Borrero celebrated in boisterous fashion, while Levy headed out with a parting shot to show he could care less about the result of one hand of Hold'em.

"It's OK buddy!," he told Borrero before walking away from the table. "I don't need it as much as you."

"Don't let the door hit you on the way out!" replied Borrero, adding Levy's chips to his stack as he got in the final word. "See ya!"

Queens Up

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Philip Neiman
Philip Neiman

When we last saw Philip Neiman, the Queensbridge native was happily discussing the terms of a chop to win Event 1 of the Borgata Spring Poker Open. Neiman is here today looking to take down another title, with a recent double up putting him squarely among the average stacks.

After the hijack opened to 12,000, Neiman three-bet shoved for his last 65,500, with his opponent quickly making the call.

Neiman: {A-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Hijack: {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Both players held queens in the hole, but in fitting fashion, the board rolled out {8-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{8-Hearts} to give the proud Queens native queens up, and the double up to boot.

Fresh off of her third-place finish in Event 12 last night, Atesa Pacelli is eying yet another deep run in the 2014 Borgata Spring Poker Open. She just eliminated a player on one of the first hands after the dinner break, and is now sitting on an average stack.

Her opponent was all in and at risk with {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}, and actually had Pacelli's {a-Spades}{6-Spades}, but Pacelli rivered a winning pair as the board came {2-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}.

Pacelli now sits with around 140,000 chips.

Daniel Brits moved all in for 81,700 on a completed board of {6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{j-Spades}{9-Hearts}, and his opponent, Papa Levy, went into the tank.

When Levy emerged, he made the call, and mucked when Brits tabled {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} for a pair of aces.

"I had kings," Levy announced, cutting out the necessary chips to call the bet.

Brits doubled through, and now has 200,000 chips, while Levy plummeted to 70,000.

Grumpy Old Man

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
The eighth time was not the charm
The eighth time was not the charm

"He's moved all in seven hands in a row," the players at Table One said as we walked by. Standing in front of the nine seat was an elderly gentleman with a growing stack of chips. Phil Neiman said "no one's called him" when asked why he hadn't gone broke yet.

On the eighth hand, he did it again. Every player at the table folded. Except for one. Chris "Paidchex" Moorhead.

"I knew you call me," said the grumpy old man. "I don't care."

Moorhead turned over {9-}{9-}.

The Walter Matthau wanna be turned over an Ace. And slow rolled his next card. Most of the table was holding their breath in anticipation, half expecting it to be another Ace... but it was just a measly {6-}.

Still, you could tell the other players at the table half expected some miracle to hit him in the face and for him to double up and continue torturing the table with his relentless barrage of all in shoves.

It being Easter and all, the Poker Gods answered their prayers and Moorhead's nines held up. Grumpy old man walked out of the room. Obviously still not caring.
