Don't Miss the WPT BPO Championship

The stop will culminate with the World Poker Tour (WPT) Borgata Poker Open Championship, a $3,500 buy-in tournament with a $3,000,000 guarantee from September 15-20. Last year, that tournament attracted 1,075 entries and offered up a $3,441,075 prize pool. In the end, it was Erkut Yilmaz besting Timothy Miles to capture the title and $575,112 prize.

It will mark the 17th time the WPT has held the Borgata Poker Open Championship, which dates all the way back to Season II in 2003. Past winners include the late Noli Francisco, Daniel Negreanu, Mark Newhouse, Vivek Rajkumar, Olivier Busquet, Anthony Zinno, and Darren Elias.

Atlantic City Legend Chris Reslock in Action

Chris Reslock
Chris Reslock

When it comes to poker in Atlantic City, Chris Reslock is a legend. The veteran of the game has amassed nearly $2 million in lifetime earnings dating back to 1996, and he’s looking to add to it as the mixed-game aficionado is in action here in Event #2.

Reslock, who currently ranks 21st on New Jersey’s all-time money list, has eight World Series of Poker Circuit gold rings to his name, as well as a bracelet for winning the 2007 WSOP Event #11: $5,000 Seven Card Stud Championship for $258,453.

That’s not his biggest score though, as he took down $335,235 for his 2005 WSOP Circuit Atlantic City $10,000 Main Event.

Reslock, a former Atlantic City cab driver who has an affinity for pinball machines, has had his fair share of deep runs here at Borgata including a 10th-place finish in the 2014 WPT Winter Poker Open Main Event for $46,625, 11th in the 2009 WPT BPO Main Event for $39,976, and second in the 2009 BPO $2,150 H.O.S.E. event for $38,080.

He also won the 2009 BPO $400 PLO event back in 2009 for $16,277 and then defended his title by winning it again in 2010 for $9,370. Another Borgata victory came in 2012 when he won the $450 H.O.R.S.E. for $14,085. Only time will tell if Reslock can nab his fourth Borgata title.
