The 2020 Borgata Winter Poker Open will now see the only OE event of the series come into play as Event #12: $340 OE H/L 8b kicks off at 3 p.m. local time.

This event was not in last year's BWPO line up but did find a spot in 2019 Borgata Fall Poker Open and it was a hit, having 67 players partake in the OE festivities. Hal Rotholz took down the event for $7,408 after besting a star-studded final table that included the likes of JJ Liu, Roland Israelashvili, and Gary Kosakowski.

After finding such success, the tournament director has elected to make this a two-day event with Day 1 ending at either 2 a.m. or when just 16 runners remain. Tournament players will begin with 20,000 in chips and the late registration period will remain open until the start of level 10.

All Day 2 returnees will come back on Wednesday, January 22, to battle it out until an eventual champion is crowned, taking home the prize money and a brand new Borgata trophy.

Look for PokerNews to bring you all of the live updates in this event from 7 p.m. local time as all of the OE action unfolds.

Joseph Cambareri

The first day of Event #12: $340 OE H/L 8B has come to an end after 18 levels of play and leading the way into Day 2 is Joseph Cambareri with an impressive 354,000.

Cambareri is a Mt. Kisco, NY, native that just recently found is the biggest cash of his career in August for just under seven thousand dollars. He is in a position now to break that record as he holds a heavy chip lead with just 20 players left in the field of the original 105 entries that this tournament collected.

The $10,693 first-place prize will give the leader a new personal best but he has some stiff competition to overcome in order to grab that feat with the hardest of competitors being Borgata regular Zach Gruneberg who sits in second. Gruneberg is a seasoned vet that will be starting the second day with 200,000 and will be gunning for another Borgata trophy to add to his mantle.

Rounding out the top five stacks headed into the final day Gerald Taylor (179,000), Leonardo Palermo (164,000), and Glenn Engelbert (150,000). Some other notable players left in the field are John Reiss (124,000), Federico Ottenio (104,000), two-time Borgata trophy winner Menachem Rosenberg (78,000), and Bryce Fox (73,000).

The first day drew in 105 players which accumulated a total prize pool of $30,555 and a total of 12 runners will be finding at least a min-cash worth $550 with the eventual champ taking come $10,693. The remaining 20 players that advanced from today will be returning Wednesday, January 22, at noon to battle it out for the top prize along with a prestigious new Borgata trophy.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring all of the updates of Day 2 so stay tuned as all of the action unfolds.
